Actually, they don’t really use auto tune. They do use something, I forget what, (something for recording harmonies) but I’m pretty sure they have said that they don’t like using auto tune. And Christina, the oldest, is said to have perfect pitch by their mother, who’s a music teacher :)

Thank you for explaining to people the role that tuning can play in the process of recording. They way I understand it is that people use it to keep from having to do lots and lots of takes to get the desired sound on the recording, but that it should really only be used on notes that you actually are capable of hitting. I could be incorrect, but that's my understanding. And those of us that have seen Cimorelli in person can attest that they can do it all live and make you cry while doing it. Now take Lisa's high note in their cover of Kesha's "Praying." She said she did try to put autotune on it but it didn't work so she had to really do it on her own. And she hit it for us on a random live stream from her bedroom taking requests from viewers. It's funny how random commenters will criticize the use of tuning but legitimate vocal teachers like yourselves can watch and completely disregard it and look to point out the things that really matter. So again, thank you.

They have a video on how they record their covers. It's prerecorded and they isolate their vocals. They don't use autotune I'm pretty sure.

You should try to listen their newer covers, not olders... they did a live cover of Intentions by Just Bieber last year, if you wanna hear a live thing, but they also have some really cover pre-recorded covers you should check out. I dislike when people go on and on about "auto tune". First off the term auto tune refers to the digital method of doing in recording what has been done literally for decades ( 7 plus ) in the recording industry. Actual auto tune just uses software to do digitally what used to be done with hardware with those massive sound boards outside the recording booth that have all the levers, switches, dials and slide bars the sound mixers use to polish the sound of the vocals and instruments during ANY song ever recorded. I don't think the software versions in general do as good a job as the hardware run by a professional sound engineer and THAT is what I think people really dislike. The people that are the best at sound mixing work for the studios and very few of them work with the artists on the road during their concert tours and that is why live performances never really sound as good as the album because the sound boards are not as extensive as the studio ones or the sound engineers are not as good as the ones working in the studios The other thing people really dislike is someone using auto tune to give a singing voice to someone who can't actually sing. These girls can actually sing and using auto tune to clean up imperfections during a recording session to save time is something we should all be thankful for or we would have a lot less music by any artist.
