For the first time in 4K Ultra High Definition video, Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major (BWV 1048), complete, performed on original instruments by the Early Music ensemble Voices of Music.
Please subscribe to our channel kzfaq.info...
In March of 1721, Johann Sebastian Bach carefully inked six of his best concertos into a book for the Margrave of Brandenburg, Christian Ludwig. The original title, "Six Concerts à plusieurs instruments" is now known as the "Brandenburg" Concertos in English or "Brandenburgische Konzerte" in German.
These six concertos represent the summa of chamber music in the high baroque period, and the third concerto (BWV 1048) is noted for its rich texture of three violins, three violas and three cellos, with a continuo part for the harpsichord and violone. The original title is as follows: "Concerto 3zo [terzo] a tre Violini, tre Viole, è tre Violoncelli col Basso per il Cembalo". On the continuo part, Bach has written "Violone & Cembalo", and this is how it is performed in the video, just as it is indicated in the original manuscript.
Brandenburg III makes an appearance in Season 6, Episode 19 “Lessons” of Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as the episode "A Matter of Time."
This concerto is part of the Voices of Music Great Works project. A Creative Commons edition of the score, based on the composer's manuscript, will be published to accompany the complete recording, and the recording will be available worldwide on Blu-Ray and CD, and for free on MP3 and high-definition, 24 bit FLAC files.

I am mexican... When I was 16 and 17 years old I had thinking on suicide several times just because I coudnt accept living in this absurd and unfair society. I have to say that 2 things apparted me from suicide: Stepan wolf from Hessen and Brandemburg Concerts from Bach... Im a mature man now, studied philosophy at university, ive always loved literature and art since I was 7 years old... So I want to say that, since I was adolescent, I had the vague impression that Bach music is the universe language, I cannot say it in other words. When I was adolescent and listened to Brandemburgo concerts I felt that Bach music expressed something like the structure of universe. As if Bach´s music helped me to understand the universe. It is so deep, powerful and meaningful... In contrast, Mozart´s music looks to me superficial, only sounds funny games...

Bach's genius is indisputable. Parts of this concerto are so inspired and inspiring, so fiery but exquisitely controlled, the voicings and phrases, the complexity and interpolation, and astonishing coherencies, everything about it's architecture and beauty, are truly fantastic in the most extreme sense of the word. In all the billions of people of all time, there was only one Bach.

It's interesting to watch the face of the grey-haired cello player as she plays - her facial expressions show that the human brain is engaging the same mental pathways to express music as it does when expressing speech. Baroque is my favorite genre of music, and this is one of my favorite Baroque pieces. This is my favourite Brandenburg. It's so wonderfully descriptive. An 18th century gentleman goes out for a drive with his horse and buggy on a bright, crisp Spring morning. That's the first movement. He stops at a tavern for a refreshing beer - the intermezzo. Then , realising the time, he hurries home to be in time for supper - the faster allegro movement. It was also a joy to see the four violinists tossing the musical motifs amongst themselves like a volleyball team. 😊

The clarity of playing is astounding! I have sometimes not liked some performances of Bach's music, and Baroque music in general, because the players, be they on modern or so-called period instruments, play very fast and slur the notes together. But the Voices of Music players have a superb articulation without sacrificing the smoothness amd momentum of the performance. Superbly played!

I really love how these people played the piece with the tools available during the Barique period. They used Baroque bows (which I have neve tried but look both fun and difficult). The cellos also had their endpids retracted like how cellos during the baroque period weren't usually built with end pins.

Since my tween years, i've always been musically obsessed with the Allegro section. I love it's swiftness, and all the lines sort of playing catch-up.

I played the viola part in high school (in the late '70's) with my classical friends SO MUCH that I have the 3rd concerto memorized. Since orchestra was just before lunch would play right through lunch. I've played all six concertos over the years and love them all, though 3 and 5 are my absolute favorites! ❤

I love how on 4:02 the violas and violins managed to make that muffled-cacophony-like sound without too dominating the basses who carry out the theme at this point 👏👏

Oh my goodness, this is an exquisite interpretation of the mightiest musical Maestro’s amazing Brandenburg 3. Perfect tempo and tone, I really love it - thank you so much. Bach, will forever be the greatest of all, it’s as if he transported a little piece of heaven into each of his compositions 👍

This is by far one of the absolute best pieces of music ever conceived, composed, and written! Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, and Mozart were all total f-ing geniuses on a whole level of their own that probably will never be surpassed in skill set, complexity, beauty, and overall quality and awesomeness! I hope in the afterlife to meet them all!

Let's us not forget that JS Bach may be the greatest musical genius of the past 500 yrs. Not only was he one of the greatest composers ever, he was the greatest organist in the world in the early 18th century. Many contemporaries said he was the greatest organist in the world, but he was the greatest organist who had ever lived or would ever live. He could do it all.. compose, perform and conduct

@M S Bach said: "The main purpose of my music is to glorify God". And he would pray: "Jesus, help me show your glory through the music I write". He also wrote "SDG" ("Solo Dei Gloria" = to God alone be the Glory) at the bottom of every paper on which he composed. God evidently blessed him and worked through him. Keep seeking God and you will hear glorious music in Heaven, likely meet Bach there and be delivered from the fear of death now. The name "Jesus" means "saviour" in the sense of "loosener", "rescuer" and "deliverer". The New Testament tells us that He frees us from sin, guilt, shame, death, Satan, destructive habits, binding traumas and everything dark. He is, after all, the "Light of the world" (John 8:12 & 9:5). The more we seek, the more He reveals Himself. Because seeking is a sign of humility and faith (trust). "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6). I experienced that and it led to me understanding the Bible for the first time after spending 40 years as a head believer without the Holy Spirit (who "teaches and guides us into all Truth": Jesus's words in John 14:26 & 16:13). I suggest starting with John's Gospel and then the other Gospels and the rest of the New Testament (and then the Old Testament because it foreshadows the New and can only be understood in light of it). And don't give up. God bless you. The one true God is good and loves you. We can only be reconciled to Him through our repentance/His forgiveness and faith in Jesus (John 14:6, Romans 5:1). It was no "coincidence" that I saw this comment!
