The word "lit" has been slang since early 1900's. It's actually very old. Here's a reference: "We walked into the vamp's house. We all got LIT and had a hell of a time." -John McGavock Grider, War Birds: Diary of an Unknown Aviator, 1918. It used to mean intoxicated but has changed to mean excited around 2015 or so.
