Tommy Lee's character daughter got hit by a Big Blob of lava on her thigh she should have died and they should have you vacuum waited all of LA and it's Ash and where they inhaled that Ash that is bad they should be in the hospital.

2:02 Technically, there is a volcano in the movie _Volcano,_ but it's small, and flat. You can barely see it under all the lava.

Actually, it's a shield volcano. Shield volcanoes are broad and almost flat looking.

I love both movies, but I'm a sucker for realism, exhilarating action, great special effects and suspense. So I will always always always prefer Dante's Peak.

I love both films. Dante's Peak is more realistic and down to earth because there was hardly any CGI; a lot of it was practical effects due to scale models and the director studied geology before getting into film, so he knew how volcanoes work and whatnot. Volcano was more fun and action-packed along with a great Tomy Jones performance. I'd give the win to Dante's Peak because of how realistic it is, but I still love Volcano.

Dantes Peak is the best of the two by miles. Its the better story, its the better casting and the science is much more accurate. Tge music too is better. What an amazing soundtrack. I barely remember any cue composed for Volcano.

My version Which had a better storyline? Dante’s Peak actually started with a Volcanologist who studied the Volcano and came up with predictions, after 40 or so minutes the eruption started, while Volcano went straight to the disaster which doesn’t make it as good of a storyline. Dante’s Peak: I Volcano: 0 Which had better music Volcano had more intense music, while Dante’s Peak had more worrisome music, which intense wins over worrisome. Dante’s Peak: I Volcano: I Which had stupider kids? Although Kelly had to stupidity to not run away, deciding to drive into a cloud of smoke by a erupting Volcano is even stupider, which I love. Dante’s Peak: II Volcano: I Which had better CGI? Volcano all the way. Dante’s Peak: II Volcano: II Which had better Lava? Volcano, as it showed how realistic it looked throughout the whole movie, while Dante’s Peak didn’t show it that much nor was it as good. Dante’s Peak: III Volcano: III Which had better acting? Volcano had more suspenseful acting, while Dante’s Peak had more realistic acting, overall, I give it a tie. Dante’s Peak: IV Volcano: IV Which had better physics? Dante’s Peak 100% no doubt about it. Dante’s Peak: V Volcano: IV Which had a better eruption? Volcano showed the lava spewing out with fire and erupting plumes of smoke and creeping towards people, while Dante’s Peak mostly just showed Plumes of Smoke. Dante’s Peak: V Volcano: V Which had the most destruction? Volcano did of course, as you can tell once you see both of them. Dante’s Peak: V Volcano: VI Which had a better earthquake? Dante’s Peak did. Dante’s Peak: VI Volcano: VI it’s a tie!

I give it to Dauntes Peak more. Those two volcanoes were two different types. The one in volcano was more of a Vulcanian. But in Dauntes Peak, it was a stratovolcano. There’s a reason why strato volcanoes don’t produce much lava. It’s all due to the composition of the lava. Silica to be exact. The one in volcano had very low silica. Dauntes Peak was very high silica. They had more people there to make the lava look realistic in volcano. But Dauntes Peak used so little cgi. It stands up more against volcano. Therefore in my opinion, it is the true winner.

Now I love both films, Volcano is a guilty pleasure film, and Dantes Peak is the film that inspired me to study Volcanology. I do want to make several comments Firstly CGI, Dantes Peak used mostly practical effects to make the film, the mountain in pretty much every shot was a painted background, similar to the way some of the older Hitchcock and some other films were made in the 50s and 60s, the main eruption scene at the end was done by shooting rocks and dust out of a 100ft high model of a volcano. Now the film does take liberties in some areas such as the speed of the Lava (which is more representative of Hawaiian volcanoes) and the speed of the pyroclastic flow which make for intense scenes, but not entirely accurate. But I will always favour practical effects over CGI. The lava? I've already mentioned it was not viscous at all, but the eruption itself was a Plinian eruption in the film, lost of ash, some lava. In Volcano the eruption appeared to be a mix of a Hawaiian eruption with lots of lava and a Strombolian. Now it's not uncommon a volcano may exhibit 2 styles of eruptions, but having a Hawaiian eruption in the lower 48 states is very unlikely considering the make-up of the lava, with a high sulfur content making it viscous. When St Helens erupted in 2008 it's lava did not go far, partially down to how viscous the lava was, it more just pooled in the crater floor. The better eruption in terms of realism was Dantes Peak, that's pretty much how a volcano erupts in the lower 48 in the US, some earthquakes, lots of ash, little lava, and potentially a pyroclastic flow. The bigger risk in the US is lahars. when St Helens erupted in 1980, the lahar reached Portland and destroyed the deepwater harbour requiring Army engineers to deepen the channel which had been filled with volcanic matter, mud and water from the volcano

I’ve seen both movies and DP is definitely the better one in my opinion. Volcano doesn’t even feature a volcano, and doesnt really have the professional setting that Dante’s peak absolutely nailed.

this was super fun to watch. I personally prefer Dante's Peak (though I'll totally watch Volcano whenever it comes on because it's so stupid it's fantastic) but I loved watching this so much, I don't care who won

Dante’s Peak is much better film. I prefer Lauren and Graham than Kelly. Lauren and Graham actions were to save their grandmother. I feel that Kelly was in danger to give her some screen time. Also Dante’s Peak is much realistic film than Volcano. Dante’s Peak eruption is based on science. Well Volcano just had lava in the middle of Los Angeles.

God, I enjoyed the video guys, and I agree on your thoughts. However, I'd like to point out something you left out. What happens when ashes get into the helicopter's engines? Because according to volcano, nothing. That's how they could cool down the lava and save half of the city. But according to Dante's peak, everything. Pierce Brosnan (if I remember right) warnes it and a helicopter goes down, because of the ashes. I swear I saw this video hoping for that matter

Dante's Peak does have lava - Harry drives the truck through it, and it's what destroys Grandma's house. It's a better film imo, although a bit unbelievable- nothing can outrun a pyroclastic flow. 🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋🌫🌫

Yes nothing on land can. An airplane is a different story. But they showed that they didn’t intend on trying to outrun the pyroclastic cloud. That’s why brosnans character grabbed that giant tracker thing before driving at full speed to the mine entrance.

It's been a while since I've seen an episode of the Feud with a co-host, and it honestly works really well. You know, like an actual debate - rather than an exercise in Devil's Advocacy. If you ever need someone to collaborate with, I know of a semi-retired KZfaqr who might be interested ;-) BTW, both films are only like 7/10s, but "Volcano" is the more exciting film. Took my first date (ever) there way back on opening week, 1997. Good memories, haha.

She was hella stupid lol. She was a sarcastic smartass in some scenes. But a complete idiot in most of the movie lol. Especially in that scene where the lava is flowing towards the truck and she stands there yelling for her dad instead of running away lol. Also, why the hell did Roark park right there lol? Yes I see this weird dark cloud coming out of tar pits with some strange fire as well. But I’ll park very close by lol. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

I'm sorry but Volcano is easily the better movie, hands down. 1. Volcano has a much faster pace. Dante's Peak takes almost an hour for things to get going. 2. Volcano has more action, more spectacle and more fun with the premise. 3. The 'Dante's Peak is more scientifically accurate' stance was always ridiculous to me. That's the same film where Pierce's truck is driving over Lava and is more impervious than the Batmobile. At least Volcano knew to just 'go for it' and have fun. 4. While Pierce is good, Tommy Lee Jones was a better lead. 5. Volcano had the better supporting cast featuring actors like Don Cheadle and Keith David.
