The Ameo is a sub 4-metre compact sedan which rivals the best-selling Maruti DZire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and Ford Figo Aspire. The Volkswagen Ameo is offered with petrol and diesel engines and is equipped with many segment first features.

Ameo 1.5 TDI DSG is a very impressive car. The TDI-DSG combo is one of the best in the sub-4m segment. Top-notch build quality, fantastic fit and finish, nice features (all four windows auto one-touch up/down, auto rain-sensing wipers), powerful 1.5 TDI engine and the lovely DSG transmission make the Ameo TDI DSG the compact sedan to buy if you are in the market.

Nice review, the informative animated graphics pop up looks fantastic. Motorbeam team going further and further with every review. VW still using 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder engine which is an under performer from they entered India is just ridiculous.

Motorbeam, between Honda Amaze Petrol Vx and Ameo, which one would be the overall better car? We have a Skoda Rapid diesel and now planning to buy Honda Amaze CVT for the daily use of my wife and kid. I was looking at Ameo, but the major negatives were the 3 pot 1.2 litre 75 ps engine as against Honda's 4 pot, 90 ps engine. Also the back seat space and comfort.

Great review as always. Stuck between Ford Aspire and Hyundai Elite i20, I know they belong to different Classes but I am considering the price factor. Test drove both the cars, Aspire is litrally hoot to drive but love the fit and finish of elite, it is also nice to drive. Please suggest me which one to go for. Thanks

VW should have worked on leg room at backsit. Height is also the issue. Other rivawas feel more spacious.

it would have been better if they increase width of Ameo, more than tata zest or like baleno or up to 1765 mm or more so like 1790mm like brezza,so it could accomodate 3 people at rear at ease

@@srikanthchillapalli1037 Yup. I got it in great offer price too. Topend highline model petrol. It's amazing drive experience. If you also planning check desel variataint as it has 108 HP compared to petrol 75 HP.

+sAm sAeed man, the door machinery must go somewhere. Do you see there is no vertical rod splitting the window like in many cars? The windows are too wide too wide compared to the width of the rear door at the bottom.

160 km/hr, yes it's a bit under-powered with poor NVH levels.

Review is very good! But here is the problem: 17.5 km/ltr (ARAI). When you are paying almost as much as a Ciaz (petrol), that figure is certainly very low. In real world, I don't think it would deliver more than 9 km/ltr (average). The other point is that the engine is not powerful as well! Tiago has better numbers on paper. The features are good, it is going to be sturdy as it is coming from VW. But on day to day basis a person will have to spend lots of money for fuel as well as maintenance. One interesting point was that it 'undercuts' Polo in terms of price. Let's see how does this fare. The competition is very tough. Dzire, Zest, Amaze, Aspire: these names hold very strong case for them!

Tata Tigor Base model has higher engine capacity than Ameo Base model. It is half a lakh cheaper than Ameo. It has higher ground clearance than Ameo. Suzuki Dzire Base Model has higher engine capacity and 4 cylinders compared to Ameo Base Model's 3. And it is slightly cheaper than Ameo. Only People who want the Volkswagen Logo will go for Ameo instead of Tata Tigor or Suzuki Dzire.
