I will show how to remove and replace the center dash air vent in a Volkswagen B5/B5.5 Passat generation year 1996-2005 (3B/3BG). This dash vent was removed from a 2003 model Passat.

I've been dealing with an annoying broken one for three years- this looks like a VERY simple fix (with patience, of course, no forcing!), I must do it, thank you.

Yea sure, it's a simple fix just be patient when removing. The plastic pry tools helps alot.

You can put those plastic strips back in place without removing anything, it's fiddly, but doable. Kids have ripped out them out of place in my car multiple times, and i have been able to put them in place every time.

I drive a 23 year old B3 and the center air vent is a problem on all models. Still, these cars are indestructible with a little care I love Volkswagen

No lights in the vents.

I salvaged it from another vent. I got another vent, but the left grill was damaged and the right side was good. I used the good right side grill to do the repair. However, you can check on ebay for the entire center vent.
