I have a 2018 Audi A3 2.0 tdi company car, now on 125000 miles. I plan to buy this car when I retire next month.i was hoping the company would change the timing belt etc before I purchased it. Until last year. belt change was every 5 year's or 140000 miles. Last year Audi UK removed time interval from belt. By the way I've removed the top cover and the belt looks like new.

Yes next to the cam cover will be a wire with a brown plug

With experience a job like this can be done within 2 hours. First time doing it I’d say up to 4 hours depending on experience buddy

5 years its a brand new belt, Vw france told me 210k kms ( 130k miles)& 10years to check the belt.

Hi Owen, Ive just brought a 2016 gtd with 71k on it, I have checked through the service history its never had the cambelt changed. Would you recommend change at 100k or 120k. Also whats a typical charge for parts & labour for this work. Many Thanks Dillon

Also is there any way of visually checking it myself without taking everything apart, apologies its the first car i brought in 15 years and my old 1.8t was very easy to service and inspect myself. Thanks Dillon

There’s always an expert 😂 Who said the crank was leaking? Nothing was leaking from the crank. And wet belt wasn’t changed as the customer didn’t want any additional work done. You don’t know what was advised or what the customer requested 👌

@@owensautotips After your advice car soon will in scrap yard, I know all these UK garage "professionals". You know that oil pump belt needs to be changed together with cam belt and you can clearly see that all bottom of engine is in oil 😁😁😁 cover need to be changed too. Oil pump belt will clog oil pick up pipe soon and bye bye engine.

@@JurLog I’ve done plenty of these belts and still going, and no they don’t need changing together 😂 go check on any data website. I have contacts with people who work in vw and they don’t change them at the same time. You didn’t work on the car, I shown the crank seal in the video and no sign of leaking, I know where the oil leak was from and doesn’t concern you. I get it dude you own a golf just because you can read a form doesn’t mean you know what your doing. Why would you change a plastic cover just because it had oil on? You have no clue buddy

Someone has done 3 time belt and still didnt change the oil belt, almost 400k kms , no symptoms at all
