@@dgman2k12.5 Nice, I got a MK3 1.4 petrol, it is the same engine as the 1.3 in Golf 2 but slightly bored out and has monopoint injection. It has 59hp instead of the 55 of the Golf 2

@@hiddend6979 Hell, even Slovenia is still full of them. They refuse to die and their old man owners won't sell them. No sense buying new when your trusty Golf still drives. Seeing mint second gen Golfs almost every day is a sight to behold. I hope they get passed down and not junked.

I still own this car with 1.3 engine, but with 4 degrees gearbox, 140kmh top speed in 4th gear. Amazing preview from inside, pure pleasure to drive this car, cannot be compared to new cars, trust me!

@@marijnvdtoom2675 I own one with 4 gears too, when it comes to driving in the city its fine, but if you planning to do some road trips it sucks at speed of 80kp\h it burns 6.7L/100km and at 100kp\h it burns 9L/100km

Ive seen a neighbours BMW E36 316i which also had a clock instead of a tachometer. lol And my uncles Mercedes W202 had crank operated windows.

Own the 1.6, 1990, 69 HP version since 2016. It was a FCKN bargain for 1300 Euro. Still drive it today, and it never disappointed me.

I drove a 99 1.0 55 hp B Corsa up until 2013. I only used it for short routes, and the car carried max. 2 persons. I never felt any lack of power. That car was also 840 kg, and it was easy to keep up with the traffic up to 100 km/h. I like "underpowered" cars because you learn how to use your momentum...:)

I also drive slow car, and yep, its normal in Warsaw, that some of the pepole drive like that. Don't be a dickhead on road, driver ahead of you trying to merge in moring rush may have 1/3 of your HP

I had 1985 Mazda 929 and 1985 camry. Now they were smooooth. Had this golf for a short time too, unsmoothest of the cars of same period that I had. Well, actually on pair with bmw 325. Finnish word kivireki (stone sled) actually comes to my mind.

Weird whining noise! Sounds like a bearing somewhere. The engine sounds healthy, but as soon as the transmission is engaged the sound appears :)

I don't know why but here in balkan, you can't find these kind of models. Only original diesels and turbo diesels. No GTI almost, and 1.3 model is really rare. Especially in this condition. Big respect.

my dad owned this but with 1.0 engine in black color. during my childhood he passed full engine reapir and dripping oil issue. when he went to the scrapyard a brake pedal literally broke on two pieces.. just like with our other VW (Polo III) A green one, randomly the timing belt jumped and the most of engine valves simply bent and it landed on scrapyard too but much later than Golf II..

Wow it looks great to drive through the European city center on old golf on a cloudy day! Especially when driving on Cobblestone Road. I don't live in Europe, so I want to experience that kind of thing.

@@tomaszproblem2684 I live in South Korea. 10:26 In some affluent residential districts and newly built streets, you can occasionally find sidewalk block pavements similar to this one. But it's not as bumpy as European cobblestone, it's smooth, and it's not very pretty.
