I took the Volkswagen Grand California to Wave Crest camp site in beautiful Kerry, Ireland. As soon as we landed, a massive storm decided to get more severe and was declared a red weather warning right for where we were staying! The Grand California took a battering on the route back to Dublin to avoid the storm but in the 24 hour staycation with a round trip of over 800kms was still great fun!
The VW Grand California starts from €77,000 in Ireland.

Great review Nobby, a lovely campervan with lots of space. Good to know the upper bed can hold an adult of 150kg. The outside shower is handy for cleaning boots etc also. I only saw 1 deckchair , id be hoping there is 2 of those. Good to know the Automatic gearbox is very smooth, and there is lots of visibility when driving. Well done Nobby, and yes Kerry is spectacular, especially Slea Head Drive out of Dingle.

Just one thing to mention. The gearbox is actually from ZF, not dsg. Apart from that it is pretty great video!

If there's just two people on the road, it's perfect. For any more than that, I think the van conversion style campers with a bigger lounge area is what you need.

You can’t Drive this on a Normal Driving Licence you Need Class 1 Licence

20 min review and no mention of price, mpg, fuel tank capacity. Its sucks the weather was pants tho. Hope it fairs better next time.

Didn’t really want to make it about mpg etc as the living space is more important. Easily saw 13/14L/100kms at times and 9L at best

A cramped for 6m , poorly designed , over priced, in your face over styled camper van that wouldn’t make it into a top ten list of motor homes . Seriously 😐 I’m talking from 6 years of owning Motorhomes . This will win people over with looks, brand and image but that’s about it ....... Plenty of 6m homes will have electric powered drop down beds that leave half the van for a super sized living area and a full width bathroom with proper sink and separate shower cubicle . The heating on this is sourced from gas which means always changing gas bottles were as there loads of heaters that use diesel from tank to fuel the heating. I could go on but far superior motorhomes can be 30k less than this yes 30k

Just to say that the heating can be sourced from electricity too if plugged in.

@@Johndoe10007 You think yours is a 514 ? What chassis is it on , is it a fibreglass box rather than a van , whats the transmission and the engine power . ? I thought a 6year owner would be able to give a better review of what you have and why its better
