Volkswagen Jetta Review

Here's a review of the MKV Volkswagen Jetta that was available from 2005-2010. This is a 2008 Wolfsburg Edition with the 2.0T engine and DSG transmission. I typically get 22 mpg in the winter and 24-25 mpg in the summer, but have gotten as high as 34 mpg on the highway. I posted 0-60 videos and won't post anymore of them, but I should say that this car does 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds in cold weather with the traction control on. Hope you enjoy the video!

Absolutely. The system has 10 speakers, and it also has 3-level speed-sensitive volume and satellite radio capability. The sound quality is better than any stock sound system I've heard, with good sound quality and great, crisp bass response. The only problem is that the treble is overemphasized at high volumes, and it can get a little grainy. There is a mid-range adjuster which gives the sound more depth when playing CD's or using the aux-input. It has very clear radio antenna reception as well

Thank you! The FSI 2.0T does require premium and the TSI 2.0T recommends premium for max performance. Basically, the TSI 2.0 turbo is an updated FSI 2.0 turbo with better fuel economy and a lower compression ratio. The 2.0 TSI engine replaced the 2.0 FSI engine starting in mid-2008. In this video, the Jetta Wolfsburg has the 2.0 FSI engine

i just bought a 2006 jetta wolfsburg edition , it needs some loving but i deff love this car !! my dad owns a 2007 and we just so happy of the performance on this cars

Sweet video! My dad got an 07 Jetta 2.5 in 2010 and I absolutely love it! Just such a kick ass car for the price and class.

I own and bought one of these for $3 grand. I'm in the process of tuning it up to take it cross country. I live in Key West and have to fix it due to Irma. The only thing left are brakes (turned rotors, pads and fluid).

@Sergio Ramirez Parra, I would pick the Jetta TDI as a first car. Since it'll be a diesel, you'll get almost 40 mpg and the insurance will probably be lower due to the smaller engine. It's just as much fun to drive as the MK5 GTI, plus a diesel engine is more reliable than a gas engine due to stronger components for diesel fuel combustion. I would just look out for some electrical problems down the road, but otherwise the Jetta TDi is a reliable car

I couldn't agree more, it was top of it's class from 2005-2010. Too bad the 2011-2013 Jetta doesn't live up to the older model years

I love my B6, but I have to admit my old B5.5 W8 had more "expensive" sounding doors when they shut. Not only did they sound "solid", but they sounded like "sophistication", if that makes any sense (I guess it should, since that car uses the same door strikers as the A4/A6 of that time.

Yes I have 1.4 tsi, 2008, has all the bits and bobs....in 2019, I paid £1500. Got a great deal, 1.4 with turbo, cruise control, cold ac. Unheard of in uk, 6 speed manual transmission it some know it, kick tires spin, everytime.I would not sell mine for a long long time..v5 in the headlight one of my favourite. In live in uk 🇬🇧 so have a European Edison...love to VW

@Sergio Ramirez Parra, also the Jetta TDI is very quiet at idle and has plenty of low rpm power due to abundant torque, more than the GTI in fact. Best of all the TDI holds it's value better than the GTI, so overall, the Jetta TDI would probably be a better first car when compared to the GTI. Good luck on your purchase!

I bought a 2010 jetta Wolfsburg but it does’t have the wolfsburg badge on the side or simply on the car. Only has the 2.0T. Is that normal? Did I get scammed or whet the heck

as someone whos worked with tires for most of there life. and who drives a MK5 Jetta with 17" wheels. go with the bridgestone teranza amazing tire

Unfortunately I only had the Jetta for about a year, but I have a B6 Passat now. I put W-rated Bridgestone Teranza Serenity Plus tires on the Passat. Agreed, they're great all-around tires

I bought the 2010 Jetta, drove it for about 9 months, and now its in the shop. the ECM/ECU is messed up, on top of that, my dealer can't repair it, only VW. I put 10k miles in 9 months, oil changed regularly, and end up with a nice fat bill to pay. I was averaging about 13mpg in the winter, and 23 in the summer. Never again, will I own a VW. I'm sorry. But this is just my experience.

With VW, it's hit or miss for reliability. My 2008 Jetta had a lot of problems despite how much fun it was. Between 40K and 60K miles, the car had a cooling fan recall, a wire to a speaker came loose, the suspension bushings were replaced, the airbag clockspring was replaced, the headlight and taillight burned out the same week, and the HVAC recirculation door motor broke. Every repair was covered under warranty though. However, my 2008 Passat 3.6 had one warranty repair and the rear brakes were replaced at 78K miles. Those are the only problems I've had with the Passat

I have the same jetta and cant get the aux cord to work. What button do you push? Lol it said in the manual to hold the cd button down but nothing happened. Maybe im missing something?

I believe you are correct. When I had the Jetta, I turned on the radio, hit the CD button once, waited a second, then I held the CD button down for 3-4 seconds to get the aux cord working

Jordan Swanson It could be a problem with the car or with the aux cord then. I thought my Passat had a similar problem, but I realized my lightning to 30-pin adapter wouldn't work with other devices

I'm planning to buy this car but people keep saying VW's are unreliable and I really love this car, what's your take on the reliability of this one pls?

In general, Volkswagens aren't as reliable as Japanese vehicles, but they aren't as unreliable as people say. This Jetta 2.0T had a few problems, mostly annoying electronic issues. The Passat 3.6 in my other videos is super reliable. Only the headlights, brakes, tires, and a drive axle seal have been replaced, and it has 101,000 miles. If you buy a Jetta 2.0T, look for a late 2008 or 2009 model when the engine became chain-driven, because it's more reliable. Also get a DSG transmission flush every 40,000 miles. Overall, I think this is a great car and it's one of most entertaining and fun vehicles I've ever driven. Good luck!

One last thing, you think the 5/6 speed Automatic Transmission is reliable or should I just stick with the Manual?

I believe the manual will be the most reliable. The automatic DSG transmission is ultra fast and smooth shifting most of the time, but my Jetta developed some jerkiness at low speeds at about 55,000 miles that became a little annoying. If you get the automatic, make sure you get a transmission fluid service every 40,000 miles
