Hi Friends, Every individual may have different experience and opinion about their VW. I live in Thane (Maharashtra) and own a VW Vento TDI Highline, Sept 2011 model. 7 years now. The car has crossed 105,000+ Kms and this is my 1st sincere user's review. You may find the review little exhaustive but cannot express anything lesser than this. Pros 1) VW Vento.... a 1.6 ltr. Diesel Turbo Charged TDi Engine is so refined that U actually feel the power of turbo while driving on clear roads, driving on expressways and quick over-takings in city as well as highways. The engine doesn't let u down anywhere. Crossed 1 lakh Kms and the engine is performing the same. Infact it has became more smoother and younger after a software update during 90,000 Kms service. The engine is little noisy during the 1st start of the day but inside the cabin it is well insulated, calm and cool, hence the noise doesn't enter the cabin. I understand that the TDI engines are little noisier as compared to Hyundai CRDi and Fiat DDiS engines. But once you drive for 2-3 kms then it is as smooth as a petrol motor. All goes very well. 2) If u are a driving enthu.. or a frequent traveler and love to travel in peace and comfort It is a fun to drive car,... go for it. 3) Seats are one-of-the-best in class, could be more better but no complaints. Good suspensions. Had frequent road trips of 500-600 kms at a single stretch (for instance : Mumbai to Goa) with 5 seats (passengers) and boot loaded fully with luggage for 5 people for 4 to 5 days trip. Have also traveled seating on the rear seat with 2 more passengers (of average size around 55-75 kg each. Total 3 on the rear seat.) thru-out the return journey from Mumbai to Goa. Very comfortable ride and no back pains at-all. My height for reference is 5'-6" weighing 80 Kg. Though tall and heavy weight guys may face a problem for three at the rear due to transmission hump running at the center. 4) Steering is ekdam makkhan. u can still turn it just with one finger. 5) Ample storage space ( big boot) . 6) Simple but premium interior gives u a classy feel. 7) Good road presence and ride quality. 8) Wonderful built quality. In short :- Luxury, comfort, performance & safety. Cons 1) Clutch is hard. Feels uncomfortable during bumper to bumper city traffic. My Friends don't want to drive my car in traffic. 2) Limited service stations. Have to take 1 or 2 days prior appointment and have to plan your day accordingly. Pickup drop facility is also provided by the service centers. I see in the review of some costumers facing problem for the same. I Have asked for a pickup and drop facility for periodic services twice where i have been lucky to get a good response. 3) Initial cost is high. Also cost of spare parts is on higher side. 4) Low resale price. If u own a top variant (i.e - highline or highline plus) you get a resale price of one variant lower. Do not sell the car in 2-3 year. Use it for a longer duration. If u sale the car within 2 - 3 years you will be at a big loss as it heavily depreciates. Whereas for long run..... compare maintenance cost with Maruti Suzuki premium sedan for 5 to 7 years, VW proves to be consistently economical. This statement may be surprising but you can self analyse and understand the facts. Mileage : City :- 10-14 kms , Highways/Expressways :- 20-23 Kms (Trust me - that's what i have achieved with total 5 passengers on board). Have replaced the tyres and battery twice (i.e - after 55000 Kms and 1,04,000 kms). Have also replaced all four shock absorbers during 90,000 Kms service (front left suspension had a problem but since the car was driver 90,000 kms i replaced all four for better comfort). I understand that AC vent nobs is a problem to some vento users. I had faced a similar issue once, the AC vent nob/slider was broken by my 'daily car wash guy'. during 3rd or 4th year of the car. Since the nob was broken due to mis-handleing by my car wash guy while cleaning the dashboard Hence, there was no point for me to raise a complaint regarding plastic quality. The VW attendant noticed this at the time of handing-over the car for annual service and recorded it on the service chart. On request, he replaced the nob free of cost. Since then, i made a practice of not handing-over the keys to the car wash guys. The regular interior cleaning is done in my presence only. It is just a 5 -10 minutes job so i am ok with it. Regarding AC, I keep frequent checks on the cooling. In October i found little less cooling due to increased temperature in the city. I got the gas top-up done immdtly. Since then the AC is quite chilled. Apart from this till date all AC vents are in good condition and AC is working fantastic. I faced three problems say after 70,000 Kms 1) ABS sensors got damaged. Had to replace all four. costs around Rs.4500 to Rs.5000/- each. 2) Power window controller got damaged. which cost around 12 to 15k. 3) Left rear power window motors is having problem which costs around 14000 k each. i haven't replaced it yet as it seems to be expensive and is not affecting my day-to-day driving. Apart from these, there are no issues. Suggestions If you own and love your VW TDI car :- 1) Please keep the car engine idling atleast for 2 minutes on your 1st start of the day before you start the journey. 2) Please service the car after every 15000 kms ( as per the company service chart) at authorized VW service stations only. Servicing cost of the car is Rs.1/- per Km for diesel car If handled properly. 3) Please maintain the car properly to enjoy the best performance and Please do not hand-over the car to local mechanics even for small mechanical or body repairs, It may prove expensive in future and also may not provide you satisfactory finish and quality there. 4) If you 'pressure wash' your VW car at the local 'car wash centre', please make sure he doesn't spray inside the engine compartment from top or bottom of the car, as there are many sensitive sensors there. Replacing these sensors may cost you a bomb. I think now a days this is true for many other cars brands in the market too. Request :- My car has a factory fitted reflector headlamp housings with 60/55 W Philips halogen lamps which i feel are insufficient for driving on dark, curvy and rainy roads. Upgrading with projector head lamps is way expensive and also the long run review of LED lamps fitted in reflector headlamp housing seems to be unsatisfactory. Please refer the link below. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/peCibMipvbanXZ8.html Though a few still claim that upgrading with LED lamps in the same reflector housings really works but many have again replaced their LED with high power warm white halogen lamps for better clarity. A friend has Suggest to go for 100/90 W Philips H4 high power lamps with relay. Somebody suggested "Osram' night breaker leaser H4 and Philips Xtreme vision plus. I am confused. I see many experts here. I expect a response on this. Please suggest. Thanks for being patient and going thru the review. Thankyou Very Much

Hi i bought Vento TDI highline plus DSG in last month. I describe this car in a single word... CLASS. This car is a No Nonsense Car. Build quality, Ride Quality, Handling is Awesome. 3000km in 15 days n I got fuel economy 24 kmpl on highway and 19-20kmpl in City. I took 4 month for buying process and drive all the cars, So I found Volkswagen Vento is the Best... Those who are in confused first take test drive n feel the difference.

I own a VW Vento 2012 model and have driven around 150,000 kms. And even today it still feels solid and firm without any rattling noise within the car. It still gives me 15-16 kmpl in city and 19-20 kmpl on highways. Haven’t spent much on servicing too till now. Just love this machine.

I think vento/rapid are empirically the best cars money can buy. It's a robust premium car and it delivers what we paid for in long run.

I own a Vento Highline Plus Diesel DSG, bought it in December. Rejected the Hyundai Verna on the test drive simply on the basis of the auto gearbox - engine combo. I have a Honda City petrol at home - smooth, but just doesn't have the quality build quality, and not to mention that it isn't exactly too much ahead in terms of features. Nothing beats the Vento DSG diesel in Sports mode in this segment. As for features, good luck using the sunroof in India, anywhere. Pretty good mileage, considering I did Lucknow - Delhi on one full tank, and lasts me a week in packed city driving as well.

I own a Vento since last 7 and a half years and it was the first Vento sold atleast in Punjab and J&K. The car has done around 55000 km and it still feels as good as it was new. I didn't need to spend anything on it apart from its regular service after every 15000 km. No other car in this category can match it's safety and drive quality. It's the best driver's car in its category and is among one of the safest. With 1600 cc petrol engine it gives close to 20km per litre on highways and that makes it very fuel efficient. I never had any issues with this car till date and feel good that I bought this car.

Great car. I bought Vento TSI DSG last month. I love the sound of the engine especially if you put that stick in sports mode. The turbocharged engine gives you the feel of driving the other luxury German Fellas. Its the entry level to that league of turbocharged cars. But I felt some turbo lag in the TDI DSG in 1st gear. So I opt for TSI over TDI

I own a high line petrol for more than 6 years. Vento really shines with its build and finish levels. Even the paint quality is best in the class. One thing this review doesn’t mention is the car’s great highway stability and comfort over long distances. The only con that I felt was the lesser space at the rear for the third passenger and that’s largely because of the big hump in the middle. The car has all the required equipment for this segment and more than makes up for the lack of any by its superior build and ride quality

I would prefer vento and rapid over all the other sedans in the segment. Sad that my favorite Ford fiesta is discontinued which I think was the best.

This is an amazing car. I own the same model(highline plus tsi) n color as shown in this video. It's a king on the highways. The sports mode is like nitro boost in real life. Nobody can touch you. I Just love this car.

Sometimes when I should off road(mostly roads filled with rocks) with my vento, some 'crack' noise is coming from the car.

@Motorbeam I have a humble request to your chief editor to kindly review Baleno CVT as no other channel has done yet. Also I have been following you guys since a lot of time and I would suggest to decrease the cinematics and editing as we viewrs come to see the review of a car for cinematics we can see a vlog and because of this specific reason I stopped watching PowerDrift cause these guys were also doing too much editing and cinematics....

I am the proud owner of Vento Highline.. Every time you hold the steering, it gives different joy. The only con I see over the years is expensive repairs. VW Service Centers burn holes in your pockets if any repair comes.
