Thanks brother, that was very useful. I was looking specifically for a 1.4 model, a lot of the videos are on diesel models or 1.6FSI. Noted that the 1.4 don't have engine covers. A question for you, how does one work out if the car does not need a service? Sometimes does not come with history and maybe bought from auction so you have no idea if service is needed. One could check the air and pollen filters for idea but what about plugs? If car is smooth and very quiet any point in changing? Thanks again.
@jaysworkshopgarage2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Akhee for your kind words, to be honest with you is better to just do the full service when you first buy a car especially without any history as it doesn’t cost much. If not full service at least oil and oil filter 1st for piece of mind using good quality oil.

@@jaysworkshopgarage Thanks for the clarity. One more question, any reason why you did not do the fuel filter and is this same as replacing it for a diesel golf mark 5?
@jaysworkshopgarage2 жыл бұрын
@@Muhammad-vl6vl No fuel filter on petrol vw’s are completely different located just under rear quarter of car.

is the cover under your car is plastic?because my vw golf 2004 1.6liters is metal under its easy to take but its hard to put back
@jaysworkshopgarage2 жыл бұрын
The cover under this car was missing but usually on Volkswagon’s they are plastic. I know what you mean with metal under trays they are very hard to put back on because of the weight. The only car I found so far with metal under tray us Range Rovers.

My golf 1.4 16v burning oil what should i do their is no smoke when start ..
@jaysworkshopgarage2 ай бұрын
sounds like piston rings problem very common on 1.4 and very expensive to fix
@oz455318 сағат бұрын
Can be piston rings but thats the expensive fix, we should start by the cheap fixes, you see on the video when he said that the breather isn’t important ? Well actually it is important in case the pipe is hooked and your pcv valve, which is located on the air filter cover is broken. I suggest you check the pcv valve, if it is broken (no sound when you move it or it doesn’t let air coming from the engine) then change it, replace your oil/filter and drive it for a while and check. That fixed my oil consumption on this same engine.
