In this VOLOG we mapped some new trails in Orange County, Vermont, in preparation for this years VOBS. We were also testing out Wilson, a 1953 Willys Jeep CJ3B, the newest addition to the Vermont Overland family. Other than a main-seal oil leak... he did great!

VERMONT OVERLAND BIRDWATCHING SAFARI is the epitome of the exploration aspect of Vermont Overland. Participants in VOBS use their well-appointed vehicles to venture out into the Vermont backcountry to view their favorite indigenous bird species. Along the way, they'll make stops at local pottery shops, country stores, nano-breweries and historic sites. Many love to find remote cemeteries and imagine how Vermont looked when horse and buggy meandered the ancient roads. Some just come to take in the amazing fall foliage and enjoy the localvore food trucks back at camp. Whatever the reason, VOBS has become a cult Overlanding bucket list gathering and we like that just fine.

Nice CJ3B. They are getting rare. I have a 1969 CJ5, a 1960 Willys Wagon and a 2015 Rubicon 4 door. All vehicles are stock except for a winch bumper on the Rubicon. Looks like fun.

I love the feel of Vermont back roads. Been a few years but I feel a Vermont ramble around trip coming. Vermont deli's are the best.

Great drive and interesting learning about what people will put up with. Built rigs can be to the small trail world what Jetskis were to small lakes ten years ago. The promise of jackassery and inconsiderate noise. Your choice of ride was perfect.

It's Dec. 2021 in the midst of a world wide pandemic and my faith in humanity is at an all time low, but that scene where you stop and knock on the guys door asking for a quart of oil was sublime.

Such clarity, directness, honesty and respect for the landowners as well as everyone who has the access to the roads. It is a balancing act and we have to respect each other and be kind along the way. Travel on :-).

what a great video. I rarely watch this type of video but the CJ3B reminded me of my own 59 CJ5. I've driven some C6's in New Hampshire with it. Might have to look into the bird watching trip.

I love Jeep CJ, I'm from Brazil and the Jeep CJ5 is Very popular hear! It was produced hear from 1957 to 1983. The CJ3B was mounted in Brazil (CKD) from 1954 to 1957

Great video. I've done a number of your "green" roads with a stock 2017 Tacoma, but have been afraid of venturing on the blue or red roads. It would be great to see your standards for blues and reds. Btw, love the jeep.

I've spent some time this year exploring class iv roads here in Vermont. Haven't encountered a land owner yet, but have seen where they will passively or directly block use of roads and legal trails.

Have you a video tour of the jeep ? Being in England, I'm pretty familiar with the Land Rover but know very little about the jeep and whatever accessories are available for them.
