Volume of sphere using Screw gauge | PBA | Physics XI | Practical based assessment | first year Physics | Class 9 Physics
How to use micrometer screw gauge in Urdu/ Hindi | Using a micrometer screw gauge . A complete video on using the screw gauge and the related practical based assessment PBA questions for students of class 1st year and Class 9th. Federal Board of intermediate and secondary education has changed the practical exams pattern and the new practical based assessment or the PBA exam will replace the existing exam and the students will be assessed in an alternate to practical or ATP based exam which is widely known as practical based assessment or PBA.
A Micrometer screwgauge is a measuring instrument by which we measure the thickness means outer diameter inner diameter and depth at 1/100 part of a millimeter and this is called screw gauge least count and micrometer least count is 0.01 mm.

Tools You'll Need:
Screw gauge
The object you want to measure
Step 1: Clean and Prepare the Screw Gauge:
Ensure that the screw gauge is clean and free from any debris or particles that could affect the accuracy of your measurements.
Step 2: Initial Zero Setting:
2. Close the screw gauge spindle and anvil gently by turning the thimble until they touch but do not apply excessive pressure. This establishes an initial "zero" setting.
Make sure the zero line on the thimble lines up with the reference line on the main scale.
Step 3: Measurement Setup:
4. Open the jaws of the screw gauge by turning the thimble counterclockwise. The object you want to measure should fit between the jaws without excessive force.
Step 4: Taking the Measurement:
5. Gently close the jaws by turning the thimble clockwise until the object is held firmly. Do not over-tighten, as this may damage the object or affect your measurement accuracy.
Read the main scale and thimble scale to determine the measurement.
The main scale provides the whole millimeter measurement.
The thimble scale provides the fraction of a millimeter. Each division on the thimble represents a specific fraction of a millimeter, often 0.01 mm.
Step 5: Record the Measurement:
7. Note down the measurement by combining the main scale reading and the thimble scale reading.
The main scale reading is the number of millimeters that aligns with the reference line on the thimble.
The thimble scale reading is the division on the thimble that aligns with the reference line.
Step 6: Additional Considerations:
8. Ensure the object is clean and free from debris or oil, as these can affect measurements.
For the highest precision, multiple measurements should be taken and averaged to reduce errors.
Step 7: Zero Setting Check:
10. After you finish your measurements, check if the zero setting remains unchanged. If not, reset it to zero for accurate measurements in the future.
Remember, the accuracy of your measurements depends on your technique, the cleanliness of the instrument, and the object being measured. Screw gauges are typically used for highly accurate measurements in applications like machining, engineering, and quality control.

0:00 - Introduction
An introduction to the screw gauge , why we need a screw gauge and its usefulness.
0:22 - Construction
Screw gauge consists of two jaws, one fixed and the other moveable , it also has two scales, namely the main scale and the circular scacle.
1:15 - Least count
The least count of screw gauge can be measured by deviding the pitch of screw with the total divisions on the circular scale. The least count of a typical screw gauge is usually 0.01 mm.
2:29 - Zero error
Two types of zero errors may exist, the positive and the negative zero error.
3:38 - Taking measurements
How to take measurements using a screw gauge. First we need to note the main scale reading and then the circular scale reading.
