Pastor de Lasala OAM plays Peter Prelleur's 'Voluntary in A minor' on the 1965 Sharp organ of Knox Grammar School Chapel.
Prelleur was baptised Pierre Prelleur at the French Church, Threadneedle Street, London on 16 December 1705. He began his career as a writer. By 1728, he was Organist of St Alban's Church, Wood Street, and in March 1736 he was appointed the first Organist of Christ Church, Spitalfields. In the meantime, he had played the harpsichord at the Angel and Crown Tavern in Whitechapel and Goodman's Fields Theatre in Whitechapel. When Goodman's Fields Theatre was closed in 1737, its operations were transferred to the New Wells Theatre, for which Prelleur composed pantomimes and an interlude called 'Baucis and Philemon.' In 1740, he published 'The Modern Music Master,' a guide/tutor for singers and instrumentalists that is still in print. He died on 25 June 1741.
