In this video I was messing with an AC compressor before I installed it on my Volvo 850. I was trying to remove the clutch to properly gap it but I was not successful so I shimmed it. Here is a link to a write up on how to remove the clutch.

Hey Robert ! Thanks for your video ! There's an inexpensive tool for pulling off this clutch and it allows easy removal WITHOUT any danger of distorting the clutch. It's likely that the clutch may show wear too. If so, replacing it might be best. But if not, pull the clutch and remove some shims. Rock on, brother ! This is A/C time of the year !

I pushed the clutch plate of by using the 3 bolds methode. Just screw them in until they hit the other end and than keep turning them one by one until the plate comes off. It worked 👌

🤦‍♀Using zip-ties or anything else for matter is just all sorts of wrong. If you're going through the trouble of removing it from a vehicle, then why not simply have it rebuilt? And yes; in Houston there's a specialty shop that only rebuilds a/c compressors.

I don't remove it from the vehicle, it's a 10 minute hack that works for 2 years and cost less than $10.

dont do it.. its out take the time and do like it really should be done ..so you dont need to again for many years... quick stuff like this ALWAYS goes side ways when you least expect it.. yes i know the zip ties work but how long is the question ... just my 2 cents ...

My experience is that the zip ties last about 40,000 miles.

Same question can be asked about removing the OEM shims. Either way you’re getting more use from the clutch.… until it’s finally done.
