It's an Volvo Excevator, the most fancy looking of every excevator I've seen. Same with Volvo's Wheelloader. Same with the trucks made in America, the old look of the front and inside, not that much of newer techonlogy. Plowing trucks looks really old, loud and uncomfortable too to sit in for hours and hours.

I think it's some hard plastic. Yes it's glued on to the window.

Gotta be aware of your surroundings when you are using such an machine in the city.

People's non thinking around machines is just insane. Been a excavator operators helping hand quite a lot myself.

Probably for driving at higher speeds on roads. I'm not an excavator operator but in Volvo's wheel loaders you can steer with a small lever instead of the steering wheel (the max speed is lowered when using the lever), but you need to use the steering wheel if you want to drive on public roads.
