For *Geartronic* transmission. Remove first the bezel piece trim around the shifter lever - read at the end of this comment for details. Then put the key in PosII (engine off), press the brakes and move the shifter to the manual shifting position, then disconnect the car battery. When finished, keep key in PosII, put shifter in P, connect battery. For *Aisin* 5 speed transmission put the key in POSII (engine off), press brake pedal and move the shifter to gear 2, disconnect the car battery. When finished, keep key in PosII, put shifter in P, connect battery. Thanks so much for this video. I needed to replace the HU-650 unit on my 07 XC70, I could not have done it without the the attention to detail in your video. Yours si one of the few YT videos that makes the important distinction betweent the 01-04 and 05-07 carrs, which requre different disassembly procedures. If I could suggest any improvements, it would be as follows: 1. Rleleasing the green electrical connector block for the climate control module (CCM) is almost impossible due ti the cramped location of the release tab. I managed to do it using a pick with a 90-degree tip. After diasassembly I could see there is an easier way. Disconnect all the other electrical connectors, you will have enough slack to manouvre the entire assembly to unscrew the 4 screws that hold the CCM, pop the CCM out a bit and you have easy access to the connector block release tab. 2. At the end of your video you mention it is possible to remove the front facia trim of the HU-650 unit, but you do not describe how to do that.. In my case, the erplacement HU-650 uint had a broken tab at the bottom of the facia trim panel. I wanted to swap the fascia trim panels. I unscrewed the two obvious side screws, but that was not enough. In the end, I bailed due to uncertainty as to how much disassembly was required to do the swap. I installed the HU-650 as-is with the broken tab, it seems to be holding fine. It would have been helpful to me to know how to remove the fascia trim from the radio unit.

Does the radio lock out or become disabled when replacing the original radio with another OEM one? My current radio doesn’t work and I’m going to buy an OEM one. Just not sure if the radio would get locked out when I plug it in and activate it.
