Great video, I bought my first volvo in 2021 (C30 T5 2.5 Rdesign) And I started by changing the water pump, cooling fan, belts, engine mounts and even the oil pan due a broken one by the last owner. This month I had to change the coolant deposit. I've the feeling like I spend a lot of money in regular services (I take the car to its service every 6-5months). From now on I would like to do the regular services by my own every 5-6months so I can recover some of the money i've invested in the car.

The broken upper PCV hose is a Ford Design, P2 cars suffer from this same problem just look below the fuel rail. Great video!

Mann filters = Volvo filters. When you take oil filter out from Blue box, there's Mann inside, look at manufacturer stamps...

A mechanic I use for my Saab recommended a xc70 T5. I found a 2016 with 106K miles. 19 thousand USD. Now I find it does have an oil consumption issue which when researching found there was a class action suite for Volvo owners. Volvo, of course says they will do nothing since I'm the 3rd owner, though I have all documented service records since original purchase. It's using about 1 qt every 2 weeks and at times more depending on use. What do you think? Volvo has replaced rings and pistons on qualified vehicles.

V50 and V40 is my least favourite models, except for C30 which I really hate. But! I do enjoy watching videos on them, it is just that I would never want to own one 😋 But still, I enjoy watching you work on it! Your videos are always so relaxing to watch! I found that I missed your XC70 maintenance video, so now I have another video to watch right away 😃 I also want to wish you a wonderful easter and hope family is well! Looking forward to next video when you have one. ❤

Those 40 and 50 are too much Ford and PSA parts ... *smiling* even on my 3/2015 Gen 1 XC90 D5 AWD Executive (Sha Alam assemblet .. not Daqing! It stood 3 month in the show room before being sold to a bank as an executive board car with a driver .. I'm 2. owner) I found Ford logo's on the rear wheel hub!! I did get vaccinated and got a Buddhist prayer w. 3 stars for the car and it's still healthy and running like a Singer sewing maschine ...

funny that the factory specifies a 30,000 km interval in Europe. I usually change every 20,000 km The oil costs about $150 in Denmark maybe cheaper in Canada

That same Volvo spec also claims Aisin 6 speed automatic transmissions (AWTF-80 SC) never need their fluid changed and that it is for the "life of the vehicle" which is laughable. One only needs to read countless problems on forums to figure out that that is very poor advice. Manufacturers are typically much more conservative with their oil change intervals and they also have incentives to sell more vehicles in the future so naturally they benefit from advertising more conservative intervals. Even the aforementioned transmission has a filter, but not an easily replaceable one. Which seems to me like planned obsolescence. I personally change mine every 8000km - 15,000km depending on the driving condition of most of those kms (city/highway) and based on a time interval of 1 year.

@@Ilost11 Not quite right .. Volvo says "under normal driving conditions" there is no need .. but they also say "if you drive with a trailer most of the time" or "you drive in hot weather (30°C and above) in mountain areas" you have to change the AT fluid every 60000 km. That goes for both five and six speed gear boxes. And only use Volvo gear oil on those boxes (advice from a ZF technician ..)

Good work. I will do the same this weekend. My v50 t5 is burning oil. About 4 liters between my service interval . I drive 2k km year, car has 305000 km on it. Is the oil consumption to high you think ? What can cause it .

That is primarily the gaskets over the valve stems in the cylinder head or a faulty PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) on the engine ...

Great video! Once I get my 1967 123GT put together and out of the garage I’ll start doing more maintenance on my 2012 C30. By the way, you should do a video on horn failure on these cars. Apparently this is a frequent problem. 😒 Mine just quit for no particular reason. Also no car alarm or little “beep” when I lock the car. Fuse is good. Now I’ve got to decide whether to trouble shoot it myself or head down to Adams Bros on Sherbrook!
