According to Bessembinder’s study, 50% of the US #StockMarket wealth creation had come from a mere 0.33% of the listed companies since 1926. That’s what makes stock picking so difficult and unsuccessful - for beginners as well as investment professionals.
An easy way to avoid investing into the 99.67% “losers” is to invest in the entire stock market. A good starting point is to invest in an S&P 500 ETF. The S&P 500 is
commonly referred to as “the market”.
Three of the most popular S&P 500 #ETFs out there are Vanguard’s S&P 500 ETF, ticker symbol VOO, Blackrock’s iShares Core S&P 500 ETF, ticker symbol IVV and State Street’s SPDR S&P 500 ETF, ticker symbol SPY.
But what are the differences between these three and which one should you go for? These are the questions that will be answered in this video. Enjoy!

Thanks for this video! I really appreciate your approach of comparisons on all your videos to educate us, and I've been in the VOO for years. Question: If you don't mind sharing, what does your portfolio look like, and why have you chosen the stocks / etfs that you have? Also, do you rotate in and out of different stocks and/or etfs to stay with the current cyclical climate, or are you holding the same investments for the long term? Thanks!!

Hey Rich Bentley! Thank you so much for your suggestion. I thought about sharing my portfolio (incl. recent investments and rationale) for a while now but thought that it might be too early as I'm not "big enough" as a channel to do that. But you definitely motivated me to think about a video like that!

I personally like IVV a bit more because I can see Blackrock's quarterly reports and understand how the company is standing. I like that information being public. But I know it is not that big of a deal. No way to go wrong with any of them

VOO or IVV for long-term investing only. It is a tie between both. SPY for long-term investing and selling covered calls in bad years (like 2022).

If you are planning on investing in an ETF over multiple years the IVV or VOO is a no branier over the SPY due to smaller expense ratios.

SPLG an S&P 500 owned by state street now has an expense ratio of 0.02% making it the cheapest S&P 500 ETF to own; that’s what I would choose aside from QQQm (Nasdaq 100) and XLK (Tech Sector) to invest in as I think it’s useful to own all three of these.

@@fu-academy thank you so much. I asked because I'm interested in buying a S&P500 etf and SPLG would be affordable for me.

SPLG is a highly underrated SP500 fund. Great for those who cannot afford a monthly share of VOO/IVV and their broker doesn't offer fractional share purchasing of ETFs.

@@te9781 It is established that the stock market appreciates (increases) over time. By buying shares regardless of price using DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging) you can actually reduce your average cost per share over a time period by buying more shares at lower prices and less shares at higher costs.

@@fu-academy you’re welcome! I mean, the expense ratios for all 3 are all small at the end of the day, so difference isn’t as big as VOO people make it out. I like having the ability to sell covered calls so that’s why I prefer SPY
