Super happy I pulled a showcase foil Vorinclex today

Dude I bought some draft booster packs today and pulled vorinclex monstrous raider (phyrexian) out of one and I was so happy

Saying og vorinckex is a bit of a boogeyman is just a bit of an understatement. He's easily one of the most powerful praetors that were originally printed.

If you use Fynn, the fangbearer in the deck, Deathtouch creatures can give 4 poison counters in one strike per creature. I pulled a Great Henge in my prerelease pack, been only watching it climb ever since. I can't wait to try and make a deck with Svella, Ice shaper, such a low key looking commander which will hopefully ramp quietly and smash loudly ;p

Having been tweaking this deck for a while now, I feel Pir, Imaginative Rascal’s +1 more counter effect puts in so much work, being an exception as replacement effects go in the same way that Vorinclex, MR and Doubling Season both are. I think if I’m going to use a 4-drop ramp spell, it’s going to take a lot to push me off using Skyshroud Claim, and I continually find myself shocked that people will use the likes of Cultivate/Kodama’s reach, but not consider Entish Restoration, which is Harrow But A Lot Better. I have literally only once been in a position to play Entish Restoration without having a creature with 4 power out. Other than that, a lot of card choices are a to-taste thing, but I haven’t once regretted shelling out for a Pipboy 3000. Other than that, if you’re not playing Vigor and Walking Ballista, why not? I can wholeheartedly confirm the Pipboy 3000 lives up to the hype. I’ve had like eight games now where the proximate cause of pod-defeat was my being able to tap Nykthos twice late-game. (I had one glorious game where my Garruk ended up allowing me to triple-dip on a 17 devotion Nykthos.) Champion of Lambholt continues to be a game after game favorite. Finally, if you haven’t run into Wildborn Preserver yet, I recommend checking it out. Everyone hypes Unnatural Growth, and yes, it’s cheaper and Enchantments are often harder to remove than creatures, but I’ve found that Zophandrel, Hunger Dominus and Nesting Grounds can literally drive certain decks to despair. (I play Ivy Lane Denizen, Herd Baloth and Scurry Oak, so sacrifices are seldom a problem.) The extra source of Reach has also proven helpful more than once. Loved like 95% of the recommendations. I do go a bit heavy on Hydras, not having had the chance to get bored with them, but again, to taste. Happy counter-adding. Forgotten Ancient is the GOAT. Edit: The Step Compleat Foil is absolutely gorgeous, but the price to get one now is Great Henge-levels of gnarly :( I don’t normally do special art cards, but it beguiled me back around the turn of the year. If you’re a +1/+1 Counters aficionado, but you’ve got sticker shock over The Ozilith, I advise just biting the bullet now. The price is only getting worse, and the chances of another reprint in the short-term is probably nil. The LotR version, The Argonath is equal to or more expensive than the Ikoria version, so buying Japanese might be something you have to consider. (It’s not like you’re not going to be digging your phone out on the regular to prove the card does what you say it does re: double on/double again coming off interactions, right?)
