You put a ton of time and energy into this video and I really appreciate it as I was on the fence for this fan for my office. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Thanks for the review. After the reviews on Amazon, I figured out why they had complaints as well... was pretty much like what you stated. Logic actually, lol. So I finally broke down and bought one, as it was between Vornado or shaper image. I like sharper image but they weren't remote control, only thing that I didn't like. But I purchased mine for $64 in the 'very good' section. Nothing wrong with the unit itself, just the packaging was damaged during inspection,and let's be honest, who keeps the packaging? I'll save $35 for a damaged box,lol. I wouldn't pay no $100 for it though. As for the foam inserts for the sides, I just cut out a 1' thick piece of wood for the sides after measuring. Reason, I like my privacy and security. Foam doesn't cut it for me. Also, those 2 dual side fans you have, I have one as well, issue same as yours, but it was my right side that barely works,if that's what you want to call it, (so slow it might as well not work and the other twin fan before it,the right blade did quit) lol. I had it 3 yrs this year and it finally just stopped performing like it did and the right side might as well not work at all...so I looked into lower profile w remote window fans that add privacy, something those twin fans don't have.

Was your 2 sided fan a Bionaire? Mine did the exact same thing! Right side bearing is going out after only a year and they are a pain to break down, if I leave if off for a day it will need help with a straw/stick to get going, even oiled it with 3 in 1 and still getting stuck.

@@pinga858 Actually yes it was,lol. It was a good fan when new, but the downsides were...absolutely no privacy and you couldn't have it running, even on exhaust, when it was raining. The Vornado, I'm absolutely in love with it. The early mornings and late evenings it's on low (1) blowing the crisp air in, and during the afternoon and early evenings I have it on exhaust. I can't stand stale air and I'm a fresh air freak, lol. I think I've had it off for a total of 6 hrs since I purchased it. Again, I even got it discounted since the packaging was warped. For a little over what I paid for the twin fan, I have a remote and privacy as a bonus. Definitely worth the purchase. Plus it comes with a 5 yr warranty. I'll never go back to the twin again. And that was my 2nd twin fan from the same company that I bought. Both had the right fan go out. I also couldn't have it on at night since there was a privacy issue and you could see right through it. Nor could I leave it on when it was raining, and it took up more of the window then the Vornado does.

@@pinga858 might I add, the Vornado also has a temp gauge on it. I have it set on 60,so if it goes below 60f outside, it shuts off automatically.

@@pinga858 I will say that my last one took 3 yrs to go so slow,you could actually see each blade move,lol. But both took about a year before the right blades started acting up. The first one just after a year to stop completely, the second one, well, it honestly might as well not run at all as slow as it was plus I started smelling that hot metal oily smell,like a transmission smells like when it gets too hot from clutches grinding. It was time to ditch it. I did try what you did, give it a push start with a skewer,lol. Didn't really make a difference unless it just didn't want to run at all,it got it to run, but that's it,without moving any air.

Great review, have the same issue with my dual fan models, one always goes out within 3 years, even with mesh and weather guards outside the window, definately going to get a transom after your video. And also nice LG window ac, my house is on the small side and about 1k sq ft. It's been getting decently hot here in northern California and I recently got a 12k Midea on amazon on "sale" for $250. Man that things be amazing, and it's a u-shaped so it's basically a micro-split lol (even has proper insulation between the sections where the lines go through, no giant styrofoam block crap). When I first got it I thought something was wrong with it because those inverter systems can throttle so low I couldn't tell it was on, I was still so used to the loud "on/off" cycle of the older window ac's. Plus at full blast (which only happens when i set it super low) it only runs about 350 watts and it's ice cold, the efficiency is miles better.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. These new inverter AC units are definitely the way to go. I have to finish my review yet on the LG shown in the video, but I highly recommend these over anything with a conventional compressor. I have 3 months worth of electric bills to show the difference they have made for me, all will be in the review when I ever get around to finishing it 😁. Cheers 🍻

Thanks for the review! I want to get a window exhaust fan for a small apartment where there is no venting over the stove/oven. When cooking in the kitchen there is nowhere for the cooking steam and odors to go so it sticks to clothing and furniture and is pretty hard to get rid of. There is a small 26" window in the kitchen about 4" to the right of the stove so I thought I would get this and use it as an exhaust so that the cooking steam and smoke can get sucked out the window. Do you think this will be effective in accomplishing this goal?

@Now-Review-This 7 ай бұрын
Yes this will work great temporarily/seasonally for that purpose. Just make sure you have a fresh air intake available such as an open window in your home while using this as an exhaust. And too keep in mind this fan breaths when off. So if it's cold outside you'll have to remove it from the widow to retain your indoor heat.

I really appreciated knowing about the Merv 13 filtration material. Where would you install it on the Transom, so it's effective and not an eyesore? Thanks!

Eyes in the head of the beholder. I cannot see what any of you see, and you can only see what I've shown here in this video. But if I were to filter this fan, I would do it on the intake side. Totally 'depends' on the thickness of your walls/windows, but I would build a SIMPLE EXTENSION box that would attach to the back side (intake) of the fan. I would place the filter in between the body of the fan and the extension box itself. It would have to be easily accessible and serviceable, but every install will be a custom fit to do this job. Hint 1. don't forget the simple power in a rubber band. Hint 2. don't forget that rubber bands out-gass as they age!

Can you put it verticle
@Now-Review-This
@Now-Review-This 2 ай бұрын
If you can find a way to mount it vertical, then sure. But as I mentioned in the video, it's not recommended. It depends on the type of bearing they use whether or not longevity will be affected in the vertical position.

They DO SMELL AWFUL and they DON'T move a lot of air at all. I have a floor stand Vornado for YEARS that works GREAT, and moves a LOT of air. These things absolutely do NOT. NOT worth the 100 bucks I paid for it, not even worth half that. Been running the thing in my dining room and the air flow is SO POOR I have to put up a cardboard partition to redirect the airflow where I need it. As long as it's exhausting the air, the smell is bearable, but EVERY TIME you change it to pull air in from outside, that AWFUL plastic stench kicks you right up in the nose.

I thoroughly explained in the video "why" this may seem like it does not move enough air. If you follow the guidance I provided these work GREAT. Nothing much I can tell ya about the smell except give it a little time, it goes away. Yes the price SUCKS, that's why I started with that point in my review. But that 5 year warranty won't be found in any copycat, for less cost.

What did you not understand about the video? I literally spelled out to everyone why the "think" these don't move much air. Did you not let your home breathe? It's the only way one of these will fail to work. Unless the fan itself has failed.
