I wonder if this was the reason that suddenly about 3 weeks ago, over on Sovols website, all the nozzles except for the 0.4mm kits randomly disappeared and they went from a silver to more of a copper colour. I certainly hope they fix this soon, especially if it is caused by the higher heat from printing PETG .etc. I was kind of excited to finally have an enclosed printer to print some PETG, ABS, Nylon and ASA. Thanks for sharing this with us!

With press fit parts, the tolerances need to be very tight. Im sure its just a manufacturing issue that can be resolved. With any new product (especially at this price point) There are always some bumps in the road. Thanks for sharing this, Im gathering as much info in anticipation of receiving mine hopefully sooner than later.

Instead of doing the bare minimum fix, they should take this as an opportunity to improve their printer. Take a page from FLsun and drill cht-style grooves directly into the hotend and use commodity V6 nozzles. It'll fix this problem, improve volumetric flow rate, reduce costs to the user, low conductivity wear resistant nozzles would have an insignificant hit to volumetric flow, and users can buy countless variants of V6 nozzles or make it themselves if they have a lathe. The extra volumetric flow would take much better advantage of the speed their motion system claims to offer.

Unfortunate that they chose a press fit when they (as a 3D printer manufacturer) must know that there's gonna be near constant pressure trying to slip that piece out of position. Either press fit it from the other side with a boss to keep the nozzle from moving downwards or spend the 50 cents in manufacturing costs for a set screw that interfaces with a groove to prevent any movement along the filament path. But what do I know, I don't make $5mil in revenue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Could a grub screw be put into the heater block to set the nozzle in place? I think they were trying to ride on the Voron coattails and put out a fast/cheap alternative. One of the cost cutting measures appears to be the heat-block/nozzle setup. Granted, it's about half the price of a V2.4 in that size, and that's worth something. I would still consider the SV08 over a Voron if I needed a larger printer. I do like the CoreXY (I have a Voron 0.2) and am converting my SV06 to CoreXY now.
@MaximalistWorkshop
@MaximalistWorkshop Ай бұрын
Yes, adding a screw to the heater block is something that some folks are trying. Voron has been central to their marketing from the beginning, but it seems like they really didn't test the T300's nozzle with PETG with the SV08's accelerations before releasing the machine. Based on their email to me, I had understood adding a screw is what Sovol is doing and that this new design was in testing - it's discussed in my update video linked in the description. However, they have since publicly said that they don't think it's a design issue and they're checking with their manufacturers to confirm that tolerances are fixed. That statement is posted on my KZfaq profile. At this point, I'm not sure what the plan is.

Yeah, I have issues with the idea that a company - much less an established one - releases a product that's not actually been properly tested and that it's up to the adopters to help finish testing. Especially for something so integral to the use of the printer.

That's crazy... I think they should have just went with a high flow hotend that uses standard v6 or volcano nozzles. Needing their custom nozzles is a killer for me. I'd end up tossing the stock extruder/hotend and going with something more standard. At least it runs Klipper so you can do just about anything you want. Having to ditch parts that suck adds to the cost of the machine.

I have been thinking of getting a SV08 but a recent experience has changed my mind. I have a SV06 plus and had an issue with the bed leveling sensor or main board not listening to the sensor. This is my only printer so it was a pain not being to use it. After almost a month of trying different replacement parts and the 2-3 day turnaround just to get a response I have made a decision. My next printer will be a Voron 2.4, 350mm^3 build volume. I will eventually convert it to a tool changer.

Of course you pay at least two times the price of a SV08. Mind that the SV08 i completely open source and soon there will be many, many mods in order to use a alternative nozzle like a V6, volcano or Bambu lab.. If you're definitely not the handy person to do well documented mods, you probably also need to stay away from a Voron? So, that's my 2 cents

Look into the troodon 2.0 pro. It’s what the sv08 wants to be. Despite what Sovol has said the sv08 is not open source beyond releasing cad models. Most parts are proprietary, Voron mods do not work on it, and even the klipper it runs on is custom to Sovol and has not been made available.

Arh! How nice! I was about to ask, curious to see what was wrong. Thanks for the update. Too bad the nozzle came apart, I wonder if it's an isolated issue or if more users are affected. My SV08 should be shipped at 22nd of June, but it turns out to be at the first week of August. (3djake). I agree on your statement about the 'early adopter' part. The issue with the nozzle has got to with incorrect tolerances, they are not tight enough (looking at the 3d step file they are being press fitted into the heater block). What strikes me as odd is that at first, the images on the Sovol website with the SV08 nozzles showed silver plated nozzles, and now they show copper nozzles. On the other hand; it's common for companies to change things in their designs, different iterations for mechanical constructions are pretty common based on customer feedback. I found a small issue in the pinout on their github, and it was fixed within 2 days. They seem to be very responsive. (at least in my case). But the more printers are being sold, the more emails they will receive.

Thanks!! More users are affected - lots of posts from them on social media now, including in the comments here it seems. I agree with you that Sovol's customer service is top notch, especially in this field, and I'm sure they're working diligently to address the issue. It would just be good if they made a public statement about it so that people can stop using PETG on their machines for now. Weirdly, it seems like this is only happening with PETG - I haven't found any cases involving ASA or ABS. I think I figured out why the nozzles changed - I'll follow up with an update video ASAP.

@@MaximalistWorkshop Saw your video yesterday, dropped my SV08 nozzle and scratched up my PEI sheet today. I just wasn't sure you were sarcastic when you said the nozzle change is an easy fix. @MaximalistWorkshop

@froh42 I was being sincere - the video showing me take it apart and put it back together was as easy as I showed. Only did one take. Among 3D printing companies, Prusa is pretty well known for releasing high price unfinished products. Interesting. I would still go with the Sovol, honestly, or at least something other than the TX. I'm only just hearing of the Infimech, and there's nothing about it that stands out as unique in terms of performance when compared to more common printers like the Bambu Lab X1C/P1S, the K1 series from Creality, Qidi's new machine, the 5M series from Flashforge, or the KLP1 from Kingroon. The leveling system is kinda cool, but it's not necessary, and those other machines machines all have parts readily available from both the manufacturer and third parties. As far as I can tell, they are all also from much more well-established companies. I plan to make a video on it at some point, but I've always been weary of printers from companies that don't have a mid-to-long track record ever since the Wizmaker P1 and some others died on arrival. At a glance, almost none of the parts being sold for the TX, even on the manufacturer's website, and something absolutely will break on a 3d printer. Even the nozzles aren't listed on their website, except as part of a complete hotend assembly. While Sovol is backed up with preorders, at least they dropped just about every part on their website on release, we get quick responses from Sovol for new parts (I don't have any experience with Infimech and can't compare), and we now have the CAD models for the SV08 to make upgrades or print our own parts.

And although there is a reality K2 plus on the horizon, I , ve just had it with Creality in general, however You´re doing a great job here, and I still like the basic Idea of only moving the gantry (Sovol SV8), so perhaps the combination of this BIGTREETECH Eddy Auto Leveling Sensor and a Steathlburner Extruder Design would give a Sovol Sv8 its better extruder/leveling/ system.

Agreed that it would be nice for them to send out new nozzles to everyone so that we don't have to stare at our printers around the clock. If it's more feasible for them due to costs or low supply, I'd also be fine if they just sent the new ones to people with malfunctions, though, as long as they replace whatever else breaks. They connect to the internet without permission, you have to connect them if you want any convenience, also they upload telemetry.
