I purchased a V1Gen2 and mailed to a mid point of my 5000 mile trip about a month ago after I got a speeding citation of 94mph at 80 mph zone. I thought I was going at 87 mph. I have set up with a JBV1 with the posted speeds+ to A and below that to L. This set up has been easy to live without unwanted alerts.

My biggest problem with radar detectors is the OLED displays, I’ve got an R3 and after one year it was totally useless as far as the display was concerned. Yes I can still use it off of the alerts alone, but you cannot read a single thing unless it’s pitch black dark off the display.

I liked the detector itself, but I don’t like the app abilities it offered. I have CarPlay but the escort integration seems like a hassle. The R7/8 might be my choice. Any reason for or against that? I value the GPS mute and didn’t like I had to get V1Driver to get it on the Valentine, but I liked the directional arrows to tell me where a bogey is. Too many options to weigh…

I ran 1.47 all over ca, nv and az and loved it. I never had a problem. I ran Mithheru's 1.47bugfix for a few days without any issues. HW 1.1.1 Just loaded up 150 international today. Looking forward to seeing how it performs. Keep the great videos coming.

We've reached a plateau in detectors. Not much change, not much performance difference in the iterations of each.

I hope Escort will bring that Function Auto Volume sensing feature back like we had on 9500ix, I like some times quite and forget to volume up my detector when I listen loud music.

Loving the range on the V1g2. Long time V1 user primarily in NJ/NY, was well worth the upgrade.

Two trivial issues that I have with my R3: (1) entering a camera radar area during non-restricted hours, the detector still warns. Since GPS signal includes time data, the firmware should (could?) be updated to not alarm during non-restricted hours. (2) Cannot mute detector until it completes verbalizing the Ka frequency.

I bought a v1g2 off ur videos and enjoy it greatly. Also added an r8 in the mix and has been very good as well. I've had escort 8500, 9500, and max 360. The WORST detectors I've ever used. Piles of tickets. The only place u get escorted to is the courtroom!

Total waste of money. By the time these accurately detect police, the police have also detected you. I used to have one back in my early days of driving thinking they would save me, they didn't. I've only been pulled over twice for speeding in my younger days. I'm 53 now and still speed all the time without one of these and never get pulled over. Why, because I'm 53 and have learned how to do it without being detected. Key tips: 1. Always drive in a pack of cars (don't be a lone driver if you choose to speed) 2. Never drive significantly faster than the pack of cars you're driving with. (Don't stand out) 3. Never speed at night since you can't see where cops are sitting in wait. 4. Never be speeding coming over the crest of a hill that you can't see the other side of. 5. Always be looking at the median of the interstate miles ahead of you to spot cops long before you get in their range of detection. (Follow tips 1 and 2 also.) 6. If you are speeding and you see a cop coming up behind you a distance away, do NOT press on the brake padal. That's a tell-tell sign you are speeding when they see your brake lights come on for no reason. Even at night if the cop is in front of you, he can see the reflection of your brake lights on the ground behind you. (Revert back to tip #3) Rather, quickly let off the gas or turn off the cruise control on the wheel to start slowing down before the cop gets close to you. (Again, follow tips 1 and 2) 7. Never speed more than 10mph above the posted speed limit. Most cops give you this buffer but will definitely come after you if you're going more than 10. As this pertains to #6 of slowing down, you should get back down to the speed limit quickly. 8. Make sure you're equipment works. A cop may see you doing only 5mph over the limit and would normally give you a pass because he wants someone going faster since that's a bigger revenue ticket, but if they see your tail light is out, you didn't use our turn signal, tag is out of date, you're not wearing your seatbelt, you're on your phone, etc. they see an opportunity for multiple citations and will definitely come after you. 9. Do your research before your trip and know what state police cars look like for each state you're driving through so you know what to look out for. Unmarked cars also, if possible. 10. Use a mapping service like Google maps as you drive. That will sometimes tell you there is a speed trap up ahead miles before you actually get to it. If you see a speed trap, enter it on the map to warn others to help prevent them from getting caught. Other tips: 1. If you can't do tips 1 and 2 above, don't speed. 2.The more often you speed the higher the chances of you getting caught. Be smart, you don't have to speed 100% of the time you're behind the wheel. 3. Never speed 20mph above the posted speed limit because in most states that's a felony. 4. Don't drive like an idiot when you're speeding putting your own life and others at risk. There is a difference between speeding with courtesy to others and being reckless. 5. If you feel the need to be speeding 20+ mph over the speed limit regularly every time you drive, get your ass on a race track instead.

I tried redline 360c with M2 dash cam in Alberta Canada but received a ticket cause notified me at a very short range with no option to react, so I have to return it. I can send you a video which was taken from escort M2 dash cam as well

Newbie here. Do you know shat type of speed camera and radar is used in Denmark and what is the best radar detector to spot them? Biggest issue in Denmark is the mobile speed cameras on back of vans and sometimes undercover police radars.

I had no idea in 2024 that radar detectors were still a thing! In order for cops to write a speeding ticket in Texas (not an absolute speed law state) they have to articulate why it was unsafe or unreasonable for you to be traveling at that speed on your citation (given weather conditions, time of day, other traffic, number of pedestrians in the area, etc.). Additionally, the radar or the lidar is a secondary verification, they must visually track your vehicle (with a tested and documented +/- 3mph) during training.

Aaah, so the Apple Car Play is what will allow me to have the detector on my Pioneer AVIC-8600NEX.

I bought an R8 two weeks ago. It stopped booting up past the Laser display yesterday. Buttons wouldn’t work, would also not connect to my computer at all. Had the latest update from Uniden’s site. Contacted Uniden support and they wanted me to fill out a fillable form, print it out and mail the form and the R8 back to them for repair - at my expense. Seriously? Absolutely poor customer service. I have returned it to Amazon for a refund and am looking for an alternate detector based on the early failure and abysmal customer service. Buyer beware.

Still have the 360c gen 1. Primarily use it with Waze as the detect tools or whatever it's called. Not cool with how it has to have 24/7 tracking for no good reason other than sell it to the date of brokers. What would be the current next best thing? No matter what brand, I'm not brand loyal. I updated my redline 360c’s firmware yesterday and now there’s no audio alerts, random Ka false alerts, and the screen will crash and go black for a second and drop Bluetooth connection whenever there’s a full strength signal. Any idea what I can do to fix this before I throw it out the window?? Can’t keep my eyes on the detector while driving to wait to see it go off 😂

The biggest problem I have had and not really sure if they have fix this but the main reason for having a detector for me is interstate travel and all these tractor trailers trucks have radar and effect my detector so badly that it basically make the detector useless

In Australia, these are illegal. The idea is that having a radar detector would make you a safer more alert driver which means less tickets or revenue for the local government. Instead, the Aussie cops uses a radar behind trees and bushes and install speed cameras everywhere because they save lives. That's what they tell us here anyways.

I have Uniden R7 with th latest firmware installed. I installed it on my rearview mirror. I have passed CHPs and Police crusiers in city and Radar doesn't detect their KA band till I'm able to see them across the street. It looks like whatever they using is blocking my radar from detecting them early. Radar goes off with almost full signal when its able to detect. If its like that, then its waste of money having an expensive detector ! Need to know if all R7s like this or if its just mine

My V1Gen2 has gotten really chatty. I know I can use an app to quite it down, but may just look at picking up the Redline 360C or the new one coming out at the end of the month.

I have read some English comments on Amazon saying that they don't seem to work. I have also read a comment saying that they had not set it up correctly. Could this be true? It costs £800 on Amazon, and it is not cheap. Have you heard anything about them not working in England? Can you recommend any English websites I can go on for some information?

When in the car I need have my cell phone free. So I would prefer to use a radar detector alone and not in conjunction with a supporting app on my phone. I have an Escort 9100 and a Redline (the older one) and they are both very effective against KA which is almost the only threat in NJ by state or local police. I drive a lot and it seems (I may be wrong) that no local police use K. The state police use KA. I hate the idea of buying for me and also for my wife an expensive new detector but will if I can get one that will filter out K. Any suggestions?
