Meet Pooja Sharma, a trailblazing entrepreneur from Village Chandu, Gurgaon (Haryana), whose inspiring journey with Kshitiz Self-Help Group (SHG) has earned them a well-deserved nomination for the prestigious Entrepreneurship Champion Award.
In 2012, Pooja realized the importance of contributing to her household income and embarked on a mission to empower herself and other women in her community. She sought training from KVK Shikoupur, where she learned valuable skills in processing soybeans and cereals into ready-to-eat food items. Determined to uplift her fellow women, Pooja encouraged them to join her in acquiring these life-changing skills.
With unwavering dedication, Pooja established a small manufacturing unit of roasted soybeans at her home, laying the foundation for what would become the thriving enterprise of Kshitiz SHG. By pooling resources and collective effort, Pooja and her team expanded their manufacturing capacity, investing in additional roasting machines and diversifying their product range. Today, Kshitiz SHG boasts seven manufacturing units and a wide array of nutritious, ready-to-eat food items, including millet khichadi, laddoo, and roasted grains.
Pooja also imparts valuable skills training to women in stitching, farming, and other areas of interest, empowering them to become self-reliant and independent. With a vision for continued growth and impact, Pooja aims to inspire more women and create a network of empowered entrepreneurs who are no longer dependent on others for their livelihoods.
