NIRMALAYA stands as a beacon of innovation, addressing pressing environmental issues while uplifting communities and fostering economic empowerment. At its core, NIRMALAYA is dedicated to recycling waste flowers, an often-overlooked pollutant in our river waters. With a staggering 1.5 tons of waste flowers collected from nearly 400 temples in Delhi alone, NIRMALAYA is tackling a significant source of pollution head-on.
More than 8 million tons of flowers are dumped into our river waters annually, contributing to approximately 16% of total river pollution. NIRMALAYA recognized this urgent environmental challenge and has devised a solution that not only mitigates pollution but also empowers communities. By employing over 40 women full-time, NIRMALAYA transforms waste flowers into high-quality incense products. These products are not only environmentally friendly but also provide a sustainable livelihood for these women, empowering them economically and socially.
