Just a couple quick tips on how to bring your DAE exports from VoxEdit (or other voxel programs) into Unity without them looking like a sloppy mess.

I forgot to mention this in the video, but it you have multiple textures, you can shift+click to select multiple textures and set the filter mode for all of them at once.

Thanks! This worked very well! I made a custom texture, but when I used it on a rig, there were strange colours all over it that wasn't in the original file, but when trying your method, it got fixed!

This sorta worked, but the colors for certain parts of the object were wrong. I discovered that you have to change the compression to none. I also had to import both the diffuse and emissive textures for the texture to be applied in the first place. This is as of Unity 2020.1.3f1

Jay Cuellar good to know. It wouldn’t surprise me if Unity made changes since this video came out. Textures seemed to work fine the way I did them for my assets, but I didn’t exhaustively test or try to break the import.

Oh goody. The emission maps are exported? You can probably plug it in shader graph to get it working I guess.

Vaishnav S Mallya correct. It’s very easy to just set the texture as the emission map and tweak your brightness settings.

All Creator of you’re on the latest version of VoxEdit and Blender and export as GLTF, it should actually work perfectly now and default to sharp pixels. At least it does for me. If it doesn’t, open up the “shading” tab in blender and click on a model. In the nodes shaded area you’ll see a node called “base color” which applies the PNG texture. Make sure interpolation (first drop down menu) says “closest” which is the same as “nearest neighbor” in Photoshop. This will give the pixels hard edges instead of blurry bicubic. Unfortunately I haven’t found a way to apply this setting across all objects at once. You have to make this change to each object one at a time: left foot, left leg, left upper leg, right foot, head... you get the picture. 😂 it’s a pain but it works.
