This film tells the epic story of NASA's Curiosity Rover on a mission to find out whether life could ever have existed on Mars and whether the planet is safe for humans. This film tracks the robotic explorer's perilous journey, from its risky landing to its momentous climb up the slopes of Mt. Sharp. It will rank as one of the great space missions, from Cassini at Saturn to Apollo on the Moon and Voyager beyond the solar system.

I might be late, but I just love how every spacecraft or rovers we make by our own hands seem to have an independent life of their own on a different planet. Although, yes, they're technically not alive, and we're technically controlling them, just the technology they have gives them life and makes me so grateful to have lived in this moment in time.

I was on the original development team for this rover. Every night my team and I would revel in the perseverance w/ a couple of drinks a night. Unfortunately that turned into 4 or 6 drinks a night to needing a drink before work but going into work blacked out drunk to all of us getting fired and never allowed in a government facility

Imagine: You're working at a penny manufacturing facility in 1909, inspecting a penny that was just created, having no idea that one day this tiny object in your hands will travel millions of miles across the solar system, where no man has ever gone, and arrive safely on a different celestial body, fixed to a giant futuristic machine the size of a car.

I really really enjoyed this video It was so full of info i didnt know about or very little & after viewing this, i feel as if many gaps in my knowledge of Mars have been greatly filled. Curiosity is my favourite rover, it seemed to take on a kind of personality in a wierd way & its images & photos are by far better than those of Perserverance. Im so gobsmacked by those utterly marvellous scientists who created my fave rover, all the things it does with precision & ability all the way on the Martian surface all possible by some extraordinary men & women who had the intelligence & special gift to think outside the Earths environs & created Curi to behave & operate in exactly the way these fantastic scientists were able visualise. Also it was touching to mention the math/engineer/ genius, Jake? His name? Who died more or less right after Curi landed successfully, he lived to see his teams creation land on Mars I shall sub this channel because i loved this whole vid !

A conspiracy nut answer would be, "well it deployed its stowed away extra photography equipment despite the several attached to the body (that the small print descriptions in many images elsewhere say were taken by the attached equipment!)... it then turned them on, placed them neatly on the landscape & roamed away being sure to cover its "JPL" tracking marks so not to alert the Martians to its presence." Truly, truly astonishing. As of today 15/02/21 the Rover has been wandering over the Martian landscape for 8 1/2 years ! And it will soon hopefully be joined by it's younger cousin 'Perseverance'. I cannot express enough my admiration for the thousands of scientists, technologists and all those involved in getting this amazing technological fete accomplished. And it just keeps going and going and going ! My only sadness is reflecting on what more could humans acheive if there were more harmony in the world ? Unfortunately much of our population is unable to participate in the advancement of humanity because of political, ideological and religious beliefs that present them from embracing education, secularism and tolerance of others. If we could only deal with these and have everyone embracing these achievements and work together to move forward what could we not achieve in the future ?

This is so cute the rover names the rocks and maybe also thinks they are his friends because he is all alone in that world. Don't worry little rover we will be with you in the near future!

Yes! Quiet an accomplishment. Now if only NASA can invent the technology to send a manned mission beyond low earth orbit. That would be exciting.

What a wonderful scientific subject. I humbly thank you for your ability to reach this planet with detaled and miniaturized tecnology. This precision is worthy of reference for these cientists. I am touched and touched by the knowledge that the future of humans beings is science. CONGRATULATIONS TO NASA.
