Une des rares BO que j’écoute en boucle depuis combien?… 20 ans? Je comprends que le film ne plaise pas à tout le monde car il n’est pas facile d’accès. Mais c’est un chef d’œuvre total. Regardez la critique de Durandal sur KZfaq. Son analyse est très intéressante pour comprendre ce qui fait que ce film est unique.

A ceux qui disent "wah ce film il est à chier", à mon avis vous êtes trop habitués aux films classiques ou américains, ou l'histoire ou l'action prévaut. Ici, le scénario n'est qu'un outil, ce que le film met vraiment en scène, c'est l'ambiance générale et l'univers, ainsi que quelques questionnements sur la réalité. Je suis triste pour vous que vous ne puissiez pas l'apprécier à sa juste valeur.

rien que la bande-son est en béton . Avalon a été absorbé a sa sortie par Matrix qui était en salle au même moment , certes la V.F n'est pas terrible mais l'esthétique générale du film et les acteurs remplissent bien leur rôle dans ce film .

Beaucoup de courageux, peu de Héros et des Grands Guerriers il y en a si peu... pourtant ils ont été autant qu'il y a de grain de sable sur cette Terre. Chaque second est une chance d' exception.

C'est un pur chef d'oeuvre auprès duquel Matrix fait vraiment pâle figure. Cette puissance thématique et visuelle, cette intensité musicale et cette interprétation comme désincarnée (l'actrice principale est pourtant impressionnante de force et de détermination)

quelle magnifique souvenir de la nuit de science fictionàa pessac organisé par le jean eustache 4 films toute une nuit de 21h a 6h du mat avec pause glasse petit dej etc. parmi les films y'avais le manga metropolis, la machine a explorer le temps le 4 eme films je ne sais plus mais le 3 eme : avalon : le coup de coeur que j'ai eu ! toute la fin de la nuit j'avais cette musique en tête ! quel bonheur j'avais adoré l'histoire la bo magnifique : ce fut galere ! c'etait en 2001 pas encore internet et le haud debit je me souviens d'être allé souvent au cdi de mon lycée pour utiliser l'ordi et visionner la bande annonce sur allocine haha ! puis quelques jours aprés suis allé acheté le cd ! je le garde précieusement !

Ce film est tellement spécial, il prend la thématique du jeu pour nous plonger dans des trucs tellement plus profonds que je comprends que beaucoup de simples consommateurs de loisirs n'ont tout simplement pas pu accrocher

In my opinion this wonderful movie is about depression mostly and how it makes us so lonely. The difference between the scenes when the main character is paying food to a human and the one in wich she's cooking for her dog is just so powerful

@@nicolasdubus669 I do not use the KZfaq comment section that much. It reminded me a bit of matrix and lawn mower man. I find it depressing how most of us live our lives starring at screens. The dog was better fed than people. The scene goes into colour in the kitchen. I should of known about this film 19 years ago when it came out

日本ではイマイチでしたけど海外では評価が高くDVDもかなり売れたとか。今ではゲームの中でプレイするアニメとか当たり前に放送されてますが当時でこれを映画したのは凄いですね☺

Dans le monde d'Avalon difficile de dire à quoi elle nous permet d'aspirer, une liberté de vivre ou simple retour au néant, dans une position de béatitude et de relâchement, immobiles sur un transat (comme Arthur sur sa couche d'or), les yeux fixes et écarquillés vers le ciel nous serions tout simplement en attente, prisonniers de nos rêves. Avalon est l'endroit ou repose Arthur, nous sommes prisonnier des rêves^^ le retour a la réalité, a la fin tout redevient couleur mais répréensible.

Avalon depicts a probable outcome of Technocracy and the global transhumanist agenda, which is pushed. That is why it never received the aclaim it deserves. The orwellian communist setting, in a polish background, combined with post-apocaliptic cultural view of japan is too though provoking for the mainstream culture industry. One to watch in this category is 'Eden Log'. Similar in theme and also underrated.

Pour ma pars . Je trouve que ce film est un petit chef d’œuvre. Mais je peu comprendre , Que d'autre ne le vois pas comme ça. Les thématique aborder ne sont pas simple a appréhendé. Néanmoins il faut lui laisser ça chance :)

Arthurian legend, celtic culture destroyed by Rome, rediscovered by a japanese author (Morgane, and his 8 sisters, Lady of the Lake, protecting Arthur dying from war..; very powerful), Why did Oshi use Polish actors ? I don't know, the old tramways of Warsaw(?) in the night are nostalgic, but also the Teutonic Knights were stopped by the Polish Knights, a long long time ago, one symbol has the value of another one. At this stage, joy and sadness are the same body.

Mamoru Oshi is just big fan of Polish culture.Thats why you find a lot of Polish themes in his work eg. sky crawlers, first is UK but then they move to Poland, you can see Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska white cliffs, girls talking in Polish, polish trams, road signs etc...

This song is the main theme of the movie Avalon (2001) which was a polish movie directed by a japanese director. Not sure if that makes it either japanese or polish, but it has been used for a movie. Just check it up on IMDB.

DDSnickle actually its still Japanese its not considered a part of polish cinematography , legally the movie is Japanese Poland only helped to film it and was used as a scenery its a Japanese movie filmed in Poland with a Polish cast and also the Japanese have all the copy rights its not copyrighted as Polish

Un film original et poétique en diable sans doute éclipsé par l'esthétique tapageuse de Matrix et par sa geekerie jusqu'au boutiste (celle d'Avalon, pas de Matrix, Matrix, c'est la version branchouille. Pas mauvaise, hein, mais branchouille). Et c'est ce qu'on aime chez Oshii : originalité totale, onirisme, trouble, mélancolie. Mais que voulez-vous que ça pèse face à Keanu Reeves et Carre-Anen Moss en cuir faisant des acrobaties ? C'est comme ça...
