I met Vincent Price in the mid 70's at a gourmet restaurant in Columbus Ohio "Engine House Number 5 " He was very gracious and signed a menu that my ex- wife has.

Much like Thunderbirds, every episode was taken seriously. Yes, there were flaws, continuity errors, logic gaps blah blah BUT it's still impossible not to love them. Still do (and always will).....

Bizarre fact, Vincent Price starred as Simon Templar between 1947 and 1951 on the radio serialisation of "The Saint". It's hard to imagine one of the original masters of on-screen horror playing Simon Templar.

TV at its greatest in simpler days... being 6 years old at the time.. Irwin Allen had great shows..lost in space,. time tunnel, and Land of the giants among others.. Days that were more relaxed..

The people who enjoy this are the ones who grew up at the time; it's nostalgic. It just brings back a lot of great memories. I remember when I was six or seven watching it, the thing I wanted to do most was get on the ship and play with all those lighted buttons and switches!

An ongoing debate with my eldest - 'Voyage' or 'Seaquest''? He's firmly on the Seaquest side yet one thing we both agree on - 'Voyage' had character, heart and passion (and bonkers and crazy and deranged and dodgy effects and loony and stuff), whereas 'Seaquest' had, em, 'technical' (and in fairness Roy, BUT Voyage also had Richard, who could spout any old scientific gibberish yet make it sound believable). No contest, methinks.....

It' s nice that Hedison looked up to his veteran co-stars, Baseheart and Price. Two. class acts. He knew he was lucky to work and learn from them lucky to work and work with them . And had two life-long friends. We miss all three of you. Rest in peace David (sro)❤)

One of THE BEST shows when I was a kid and STILL enjoy them! Just like Star Trek is an adventure through space travel, this show was a Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea!

When Gene Roddenbury was pitching "Star Trek" to studio executives they had a lot of concern about the number and size of the sets that would be needed. Roddenbury used examples from Voyage to show how the sets could be constantly reshaped and reused. For example, you don't need long corridors, just shoot an actor in a short corridor, cut the scene, reshape the corridor set, and shoot another sequence.

When I was stationed in San Diego in the early 80s I had a drinking buddy named Victor Price, I asked him if he was related to Vincent, he told me no relation, he told me just about everyone he meets ask him that, I haven't seen or heard from him after I was discharged from the Navy, one thing I remember about Victor, that guy sure could drink!😀

I too was a fan of this show, and still have enjoyed it's resurrection 60 years later, in light doses. I was a big fan of "The Wild, Wild West," which also had a strong streak of the surreal. Something in the Zeitgeist. Don't remember seeing this ep.: Thanks, mona!

I also thought that the flying sub was really cool when I was a kid. Now I understand that the flying sub was an actual aircraft, built by NASA! The TV show "borrowed" the ship with the permission of the space agency.

I had a friend, years ago, who met Vincent Price. He said that Mr. Price (although playing the villain in many shows) was one of the kindest, gentlest people he'd ever met. Can't forget Vincent's creepy voice and laugh on Michael Jackson's "Thriller".

Which gives credence to what I wrote about Vincent Price & his appearances on a Canadian kids' show. Apparently, from something I read on the web (apologies for not having the citation), he told David Hedison how impressed he was with his acting skills since they last worked together. He invited Hedison & his wife to his home for dinner later. Price was a renowned gourmet chef and was the author of many cookbooks!

I once read that Vincent Price had a friend bet he couldn't preform for a talent contest back in the early 1930's. So, Vincent shown him up by entering it. The rest is show biz history.

I will watch Vincent Price in anything! A great actor, great storyteller and a marvelous human being. What's not to like!? He is also a fabulous voice actor in radio dramas, where his incredible range can be employed very effectively. All of that, and he's a fine comedian as well. Anyone who likes radio drama should seek out the series, "The Price of Fear."

Don't pay attention to the negative comments here. This show, in its day, had what were considered very advanced special effects. including good underwater filming. Irwin Allen was his own kind of genius, just like Ray Harryhausen (Clash of the Titans, the Sinbad movies, etc.) was years earlier. These episodes only seemed kind of cheesy if you watched the other shows such as Lost in Space, Time Tunnel, or Land of the Giants, and saw the same monsters or sets used over again. When I watched this show, I was a young boy. And everything was real-looking and scary. Now I enjoy watching them again, for nostalgia. Thanks for posting this!

There were several whale episodes which were good...HOWEVER Irwin Allen used, reused, re-reused, re-re-reused stockmileage from his version of THE LOST WORLD ...Once the series switched to color ...Allen was a master at cutting corners probably much more so than Roger Corman...

Trivia: A reunion of sorts for Hedison and Price, both having been cast in The Fly in 1958 although they never met each other back then. After this episode, they became friends till Price's death.

True .... this "Dolls" story line was silly, but Irwin Allen was known for working on a shoestring budget and used the cheapest and silliest ideas often. I remember his LOST IN SPACE episode with talking Vegetables! LOL

I was madly in love with William Shatner AND David Hedison and only watched the shows to see them I was around 13 then). They could have read the phone book for all I cared at the time. Now, when I watch both shows, I see Captain Kirk as a horn dog, looking to bang as many female aliens as possible and why did Starfleet even have a Prime Directive since no one paid attention to it?! Captain Crane was at least serious about his job (despite the stupid scripts). Star Trek scripts were getting ridiculous in their third season as well.

It was great that Basehart, Hedison and Dowdell also did voice overs for the puppets. Added a bit of eerienous to the show. Amazing how much they looked like their flesh and blood counterparts. Whatever happened to the puppets?

Isn't it just amazing how a action adventure drama from 40 + years ago is now a cheesy comedy. My 7 year old grandson sat and watched this with me and he couldn't stop laughing. I was the same age as he is now when I first watched these shows and thought they were the coolest. I even bought the testers models and played with them while watching the show. Seems like only yesterday! Thanks for the time travel in my mind, it was fun to be there again.

This was one of my favorite shows growing up. Nickelodeon used to own the rights to some TvLand shows and would show them during Nick at Night in the 90's, along with The Brady Bunch, the Partridge Family, I Love Lucy and I Dream of Genie (that I remember at least). This was my favorite out of all of them.

💝💝💝💝💝 love this episode of Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, daft as a box of frogs and just delightful from start to finish, Vincent Price was one of the great American actors and could make anything sound like Shakespeare or Chekhov. Paul Bacchus esq

I used to watch this every Sunday. Never saw them all though, so buying the whole series on DVD was too good an opportunity to miss. Mind you it did cost a few £££s though
