Great to see a video on this fabulous machine. I run a 1991 Voyager xii and they are a rare beast here in the UK. Mine has just turned 14,000 miles and is almost like new. I am only the third owner having had it for 3 years now. The wobbly steering seems to be a regular comment. As I say, mine is not a high miler but it has the vague steering which I have had checked out only to be told "it's how it rides".... These bikes have so much character and I love the rorty sound from the exhaust. Ride safe....

I would also hear that steering issue being part of the nature of the bike. It must’ve been. I eventually sold this one and it flawlessly was driven from the southeast all the way to Idaho! No problems at all

Voyager 12 is hard to beat just such a nice bike so smooth yet good power quite handles better then the goldwing of the same year

I just bought my first touring bike, a nice '94 XII the same color as yours. It will be our anniversary present! I can't imagine riding in such congested area like you have there, especially with that bike. I'm used to open roads where you can ride for miles at a time with no stop signs or lights. That bike will literally eat up the miles and give you lots of smiles!!

It’s definitely a bear around town, especially compared to my DR. Part of the reason I’m selling it. I already know I’m going to regret it eventually..

I run a 1991 in the UK, where the roads are clogged up. I still love it, and every trip is a memory. Love the sound of the rorty exhaust, and the cruise still works perfectly even though she's now 32 years old. I purchased it 2 years ago from a guy who had owned it for 99.9% of its life, treating it like a baby. It has only just covered 13,000 miles and still looks like new. Best of all my 17 year old son loves riding pillion with me..... Hope you're enjoying yours...

Same RPM as mine, I'm running 3000 RPM at 100kph (63 mph). Mine has the speedo correction as well so it's pretty accurate. Awesome bikes!

Here in the UK (July 2023) it is mid-summer and 16c....lol I love my Voyager xii and won't be getting rid of it. I also run a Gen 3 Hayabusa but the Voyager is my favourite of the 2.

I had a 1991 Voyager 1200 XII, and they are phenomenal touring bikes using the same engine from the ZN1200. I have had Indian Roadmaster, Ultra-Classics, Road Glides, Goldwings and an FJR1300. The FJR and XII, are the best touring motorcycles around.
@ComfyDadShoes10 ай бұрын
I dearly miss that FJR. It was a regrettable sell.

@@ComfyDadShoes I feel ya. I sold mine and bought a 2014 Super Tenere. I really miss the ridiculous power and sound of the FJR, but the Tenere is a better bike for my riding preference

I’ve had a Gl1100, F6B, and a Valkyrie interstate, and this voyager XIi is actually my favorite goldwing! Everything just works better on the Kawasaki and it’s easier to work on. What a bike, and it’s basically unknown.

I did things with my VG12 than you can imagine powerful down low, Fast up high. I knew a guy that did 13.5 with it at the track. Scary fast for a full dresser. Did weekends with the wife and the luggage. Mine was an '03 in silver.

I wish they would have kept this formula with updated electronics for the new voyager. It truly is one of my favorite bikes I’ve ever owned.

Do the vents in the dash and lower fairing actually do anything? I had an old '07 Goldwing with adjustable vents that did absolutely nothing.
@ComfyDadShoes10 ай бұрын
They do, but it wasn’t how i expected. I’d close them if I was in rain because it tunnels air right too you. In summer the top vents being open were great for cooling. The lower vents being slightly open in winter would actually put a nice amount of warm air from the engine exhaust/case around my lower legs. Definitely close them all the way in rain though, unless you like soggy socks!

Lol, thanks. I was considering picking up an '88 Voyager but not sure I want another big dresser hogging up room in the garage or not. I know they're nice, comfy road couches.@@ComfyDadShoes

Oh cool, Mickey. I love it. Can you use the kickstand easily ? I have a bad left knee and need an easy way of dismounting. - Mike
@ComfyDadShoes Жыл бұрын
It’s really low, so very different than my dual sport. I’ve never had any issues using the kickstand. The center stand is two stages and takes a little bit of ass to get set.

Wish they would bring back these cool windjammer style fairings....im in the same boat I'd love one of these but I'm totally over carbed bikes

I run a 1991 Voyager xii. In fairness it is one of three bikes I own so I only use it on dry/warm days. But I know where you're coming from. I had a ZX-9R (E1) back in the day and on frosty mornings it was a real nuisance as it would keep suffering from carb-icing. Nonetheless, on those days I do use the Voyager I love every minute of it...

Shinko 777HD, wonderful on this bike
@ComfyDadShoes Жыл бұрын
I got the shinko set sitting in my shed. The Dunlop set that’s currently on the bike definitely don’t feel suited for it. They follow road snakes sometimes. Could be the steering head bearing though.

@@ComfyDadShoes tires and progressive front springs made a world of difference on mine.
@kevinpruitt38069 ай бұрын
The wobble could be from the tires

I'm surprised you had to replace the clutch with so few miles on it. Edit: AND the rear bearings?
@ComfyDadShoes3 ай бұрын
Yeah, the bearings looked like dry, black roofing tar. I actually took a photo and shared on the facebook group. As far as the clutch goes, I’ve never had a bike over 50k miles before, so that was a learning process for me. I’ve heard from other riders that it was somewhat early as well.

@@ComfyDadShoes - my bad . I thought I heard you say it had much lower miles. I must have heard wrong. I'm shopping for one now so it's good to know what things might go wrong that will need to be addressed at some point.
@ComfyDadShoes3 ай бұрын
@@need100k the condition of the steering stem bearings are something you might also want to look out for. I know I say in the video that I was getting burned out on carbed bikes, but I’d honestly buy another voyager again.

@@ComfyDadShoes - Yeah I really wish it was fuel injected. Makes me think about getting the FJR 1300 but I really do have an affection for the Voyager XII. The one I'm considering has been sitting for about a year, so I'm worried about the carbs. It's like an inkjet printer; leave it unused for too long you can't use it anymore.
@ComfyDadShoes3 ай бұрын
@@need100kit will punish you for not using it, which is why I sold mine. Too many bikes to maintain. Honestly, if you’re looking at an FJR, you’ll come out better. I REALLY regret selling that bike. You can mod the lower pegs and max out the risers to sit upright. I would pay the extra $ for the FJR if it’s on your list.
