Just visited Guyana after 30 years gap and I am appalled at the Infrastructure. After 23 years in office, money should have been allocated to building roads, many of the roads and byways are in a disgusting state. For a small country so rich in resources, my assessment is intelligent and insightful, and visionary leadership is sorely lacking. Is this country still a democracy or under dictatorship ruling?

I am a guyanese living in Canada, poverty higher than a flying kite here! in the USA is just as bad. If you see people living on the streets here. People cannot afford to buy food. Why you think all of us hustlling back to Guyana. A one bedroom apartment, 700 sqft is about $3000CAD. The food banks that give free food, running out of food daily. Canada and USA don' t like to report the truth either. You have to live here to know. That is why don't trust these low class reporters, they looking to make a name for themselves through sensationalism and getting a followng with a good drama story. They don't care that they make up stuff. Things really bad here. Most of the middle class is wiped out. Is not only Guyana. It is all over thet world. Go to some of the other Caribbean countries. THey hustling to come to Guyana,

@@amrit3213 35 percent of Guyana lives below the poverty line while 6.4 percent of Canadian live below the poverty line. Come again we know it is corruption and there government officials won't even help put institutions in place to help guide the youth in becoming business savy, so much children have parents that don't take care of them and guide them and the government allow for them to wonder off into foolishness
@amrit3213
@amrit3213 2 жыл бұрын
@@ram.4152 yes, Ram, I understand what you are saying. However, it is not 6.4% it is much higher. Inflation is the highest historically. I am on the ground here and work with social services. There is a 6 year waiting list here for low income housing and a 3 year waiting list for mental health services. All them people waiting for housing, on the streets and in shelters. We are a larger population. We have up to 8 to 12 people living in a one-bedroom apartment 700 sqft. Housing is so bad. What I am saying is, the world is destoryed... economics are all relative to the country which you live. At a minimum we must be able to see that corrupiton is worldwide. Focusing on the positives will give "you" less stress and more creative positiblities. How do you think you are helping the poor guyanese by harping on this. Go out like the rest of us and as Ghandi said "be the change you want to see." I can't change the world, but I can help one person at a time with postive words rather than beating down on people. The international news from Asia talks that the USA is trying to block Guyana from moving forward also. I am very happy the government is cautious. Your good health and positive vibes to the world will go further than blasting everyone. I look forward to returning to Guyana. I love my country and people. My family was very poor. And it was the happiest time in our life. Guyana my friend is no different from St. Vincent, Grenada etc. You should see the prostiutiion that goes on in the Grenadines. The kids are roaming the beaches all day. This is not a Guyana problem, this is an international problem. Children in Canada are left at home for up to 12 hours per day, every day, until their parents come home. I know this factually. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. Kids here (just like guyana) as young as 7 years old suffer depression. We have beautiful buildings here, but go within the walls of the buidling and you would be surprised. You have to work with the people directly to see it here in Northin America (including USA). At least most guyanaese getting a house under the housing program, here we have them in shelters and in the streets. And winter cold like hell in the streets. And if you want someone better to run the country find someone. WHo else? Even Canada and the USA don't have proper leaders. Jagdeo hold up better than most of these leaders, especially with education. Anyway don't stress my friend. According to every ancient scripture, Western and eastern, the world is a suffering place. We must learn to navigate it. Hope we meet up in GT. Love the spirited conversations.

@@amrit3213on the government STATISTICS CANADA PG it says 6.4% of canadians live bellow the poverty line, on the UNICEF website actually 43.4 percent of Guyanese get less than 5.50. Guyana hasALOT OF VERY GOOD fertilize lands and microclimates, lots of DIFFERENT TYPES natural resources. But the government and the educational is keeping the population very ignorant to learn how to use this to there advantage, hire outside companies to do jobs that could be done if they took care of the nations children and young adults.

All over the world hiring people from outside. You are bent on beating down Guyana. Come to Canada and see for yourself. talk about dumbing down children. When last you look at the Canadian school curriculum? to this day, you put a Guyanese child next to a Canadian child, same age, and the Guyanese child much more educated. Same with India and China. North America can't keep up with Asian countries. To each his own opinion. I see progress in Guyana. I am happy most Guyanese are aware that this this is the first time the country, catch a break with oil.. Be at peace my friend... Life is short. poor nor rich doesn't determine our happiness.

Great interview VP Jagdeo!!!! VP Jagdeo spoke very well! As a person living in North America, I see reporters here always putting a twist and drama that doesn't exist. Reporters today need to report the news "as is" and STOP putting a spin on it! For once we have a government that is intelligent and getting the job done. Many people in Canada and USA, including some Trinis, are very jealous of the progress in Guyana. Guyana has been through a lot. We Really punish. The Guyanaese people should band together and keep these drama queen reporters looking to cause division, OUT. If you keep looking for trouble, you will find it. If you look for progress you will find it. We should be celebrating that at least the government is doing due dillgence and understand finances. When you understand fiances you can see Guyana is going in a good direction.. You can be a leader or a follower, if you are neither - get out the way. The reporter had no facts, only heresay. And she didn't even understand the country, economics, culture and the people. Jagdeo is intelligent. We should be proud of that, when you here some of the other Caribbean leaders that can't even string a proper sentence together you would be proud. Be proud of your government and support your country. Don't forget where we come from.... An Attitude of Gratitude gets an entire country moving forward! Foreigners like to put THEIR foreign twist on Guyana and other Caribbean countries. To this day in Canada you cannot escape a white face telling a dark face, how to live their life. Wake up Guyanese and stop being so influnced by outsiders. Pick sense out of nonsense. The reporter came with an agenda to discredit our government. Instead of endorsing the foreigner, endorse your vice president!

I am amazed at the number of prolonged interviews by him on youtube. Seems to like to hear himself talk. In any event I hope the country does not befall the fate of other lesser developed country on the crux of windfall when the thieves and exploiters converge and the losers are the local citizens. I hope people organize against it hopefully in a nonpartisan way and say this is not going to happen. Demand accountability. Otherwise eventually could end up with countries like Nigeria where billions of dollars disappear or Angola where Dos Santos and his family stole billions. Extra care needs to be taken with foreign corporations and countries like China that will exploit any perceived naïveté or corruption. Jagdeo seems to have a positive international reputation on economic and environmental issues. This could make him especially dangerous if he is corrupt.

It baffles me that guyanese support a foreign journalist who has no knowledge of our country, economics, culture and finances and didn't even have her facts straight. She came strictly to discredit our government. That is not journalism, that is propoganda. If you see how it is done here in North America you would understand. Guyana has the best government we have ever had historically. Support the journalist trying to separate our country or Support the current government, who is clearly doing a great job. IF you have someone else to run the country then elect them in. These guys won fair and square. Giving them a chance is giving the entire country a chance.

Re-read what I wrote. Apparently you didn't understand. I never said "she" separated Guyana. Separation started with Burnham. I lived that. I can tell from many of the comments, many of you are from the generation and remnants of the Burnham era. Move past the programmed communist viewpoints, and mentality. It took Burnham 21 years to destroy the country, it will take 60 years to get it back! That's just life, not politics. I am glad I lived to see progress. The reporter did what they do in America, she planted seeds to discredit the government. Many international governments don't want to see Guyana succeed. Therefore they fund propaganda to bring down governments. Read about political marketing. Anyway. read carefully before getting hastey. All of us working towards the goal of growing the country. It is not only foreign investment. Many Guyanaese outside Guyana contribute plenty. Beating down efforts that are being done is not contributing. Show us what you can go out and do. Don't hide behind comments. Many foreign Guyanaese including myself contribute heavily to Guyana and we see the benefits. Blame game has to stop. Look how Guyanese talking to Guyanese on this chat. Highly rude and many exposed how uninformed they are.
