that's a tough question, the answer is no even self hosting, internet cafes, full private networks ultimately all fail at the human level. you could go off grid entirely but your boimetric data exists out there more than likely, global monitoring through cctv is increasing france tried to do the ai crime stuff with the upcoming Olympics therefore you wouldn't be able to enter most cities as its assumed intelligence agencies are able to do this ai recognition stuff. sorry not well written

never heard of carrier throttling i assume its this? wehe.meddle.mobi/papers/wehe.pdf net neutrality merica stuff. I think switching dns to 1.1.1.1 would fix all your issues with this as your isp is circumvented in the same manor as a vpn - secondly its good for light censorship but honestly but there's a reason people dont buy drugs using vpns

The thing is that there is no such thing as anynomity in the internet. I guess it depends on what do you mean by it. If you are going to do some illegal stuff in the internet and you are trying to use VPN to be clever and hide your tracks, that's not going to work that well. Law enforcement and other goverment agencies can with very high probability figure our who you are and they can get hold of the logs that the vpn providers keep. The anonymity only works if you are trying to be anonymoys for those who cannot access those logs so people like private citicens and service providers. But as long as you do something stupid and police gets involved, they can track you. Being anonymoys in the internet is really, really, really hard. What comes to the argument "it's illegal already so you may just as well so some other crimes because they are also illegal", well, no. If you have an area restriction in the content, that's under the Terms of Service. If you use VPN to go around the restriction, that's not illegal. It's a breach of ToS from your side. So, if the ToS has some penalties, then you may have to pay those or they might disable your account, but it's not illegal - there is no law against that in most of the countries. You are not breaking any law, you are breaking a contract and ToS. There is a huge difference here. If you on the other hand pirate a copy of a show or a movie and/or you distribute it around, that's illegal.

Hia totally agree with the first point but it depend on the country there have been several cases in America where using vpns to watch content has been punished but this is usually a way to punish people for cyber crime or known offences with lack of evidence
