They need to add an “airplane mode” that can change how the tracking works during the flight.

I used the Gear VR on a few planes and it was fine when the plane was flying straight and level, if you turned it needed a reset. Another top tip I learned was don't play Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes on a plane. Other passengers get very uncomfortable if you're shouting to cut the green wire...

Just a reminder that to recenter the Quest 2 hold down the Oculus button on the right controller. You are told this when you first use the Quest, but I skipped it and then got very frustrated pressing all sorts of buttons 🤣

For tip 8, you can buy a KKCOBVR IR emitter that plugs into the USBC port. You won’t need any visible for tracking if you use it.

I tried playing wings while the plane took off to get a motion sim feel. It was fun flying… straight through the floor. Idk how altimeters work, but they work very well lol

Okay, so I actually tried this all the way back in 2016 with the phone vr, I think it was samsung. Well back then the headset only tracked using a gyroscope, so everytime the vehicle would turn, your vr environment was renched in that direction. I'm so glad this is less of an issue.

I think wathing your pre-downloaded movies on Sky Box would be great also (on plane). It's screen is gigantic!

I love my quest. I just want it for movies tho. Its more privacy than using my macbook- (spicy scenes are uncomfortable to watch, especially if children are nearby) this is just better- my tip is if you don’t have netflix, use a thumbdrive and a type c converter cable. Also carry a battery pack that can be plugged in or connected via the strap.

The one question I have off the bat is how on earth are you using the stock head strap? I experienced so much pain instantly with the stock strap that I simply could not use it for more than 20 minutes. I got a bobVR replacement and I can use it now for over 2 hours on an airplane. I have also read that there are a few even more comfortable replacements, but I have not tried them. You are very passionate about VR, so I highly recommend that upgrade, expecially on a plane. :) Totally worth it. The bob unit has a batter in the back so I get appx 3-4 hours instead of the stock 2ish. Great for my plane rides and I got a 2nd spare battery. The battery is necessary because it counterbalances the headset and takes much of the weight of the unit off the forehead. I just saw that your first recommendation is to use the stock strap. I do not recommend this at all. The bob VR compacts into itself pretty well and yes it is not as small, but fits in my backpack nicely. The stock strap is nice to rest your head against the headrest but that does not stop the pain so I don't think I could ever use it unless I was laying down and there are not many apps that allow laying down. After watching the whole video I was sad to hear that you had not figured out any tricks to make it better than I had already discovered. The challenge is the unit will randomly just start slowly spinning which requires me to restart the headset over and over or press the recenter button every 5 seconds(literally, it really does randomly spin that fast.). I have primarily watched movies on my unit and the spinning is not great at all. I play them in Bigroom. One thing I did not hear about is how you kept it charged for the 10 hour flight? It would be good to add a recommendation for a charger because you will definitely need it for a long flight. I have been pleased with bob VR but I am guessing on a much longer flight I would run out of power after 5ish hours. I have talked with dozens of peoples about how RAD it is to watch movies in VR on the plane. It sure does help the time pass. I flew from Kansas City to Spokane last night and it was a breeze. I just wish we could figure out a way to disable the tracking even more. The spinning and falling is very annoying. I do play from the moment I get going and turn off tracking the moment it asks me to. Sometimes due to falling I cannot reach the button, but at one point I do finally get there.

Just because you're moving on a plane doesn't mean the VR headset thinks you're moving 500mph. The entire environment around you is moving, so the relative motion is zero.
