BTW I'd also say the ritviks destroy the "11 guru advocates" in this debate. Here in, Yasomatinandan claims that Prabhupada, in detail, explained the ritvik system, and that it was all recorded, but that it wasn’t made available to the common devotee. You know the July 9th letter? The one that details the way of ritvik initiations, which was made because Prabhupada was unable to initiate everyone who requested it of him, which has no mention of ending, and which actually does say it is supposed to continue indefinitely. Well, I can tell you that no temple presidents ever received that letter, even though they were supposed to have received it. This form of ritvik initiation was already functioning before then, from 1972 or something, but in the end, Prabhupada became completely unable to the ceremony, and so the system had to be established on paper. iskcon-truth.com/ritvik-letter-july9th.html Here is that July 9th letter. The interesting part is that here, Girriraj Swami formulates it and writes it down and reads it to Prabhupada. Here is a phrase of the signed document, with my emphasis: “provided the new director is MY initiated disciple following strictly all the rules and regulations of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness as detailed in my books…” This was not the original wording, Girriraj wrote “an initiated disciple” but Prabhupada changed it to “my”. That’s a sure indicator of how Prabhupada wanted his society to run. I got on a bit of sidetrack, but the thing I wanted to say about those missing tapes on the ritvik system is that, who the hell knows what went on back then. Others say that Prabhupada authorized Gaur-Govinda Swami and Radha-Govinda Swami to be the Gurus of Iskcon. Guru-Kripa Prabhu says he was directly nominated by Prabhupad to be one of those ritviks, but those 11 knew they were gonna take over as gurus, and because Guru-Kripa didn’t want to have anything to do with that, he was left out. So who knows? I’m an advocator of the original book btw. But even here, there is a problem. You know, the last part of Srimad Bhagavatam that Prabhupad spoke, 13th chapter, that got published 3 FREAKING YEARS AFTER PRABHUPADS DEATH. They had a loooong time to edit that. Who knows what Prabhupada was saying in those days? Have you heard of all those interviews which was done on Prabhupada-disciples to make the Prabhupada-lilamrita? Recordings worth tens of thousands of pages were made, but they are all gone. Although I don’t exactly know what happened, Ramesvaras interviews re-earthed, as transcriptions.
