thank you! in scene with many vegetation around contour will make the scene weird if using default setting. so im thinking to only use contour for selected material. but your last scene comparing picture with contour and without contour, its still looks good with contour (that plam tree). so i guess i just need to reduce the opacity huh?

Yes, this feature is great for creating artistic style type renders, otherwise your images will look like cartoons. Taking the opacity down do its not too strong is a Tip 😊

Great video I really enjoyed every bit of it. My problem is after generating light I dont get my hdri clouds what could be wrong?

Thanks for this nice video. I am not sure the contour lines add to the realism of the materials. / renders. Where and when would you use it?

Thanks Richard and Happy New Year. I think this is one of those creative features that is very unique. As far as photo-realism, is not my go to feature, but for Other things (cartoon story boarding, commercial staging, etc) it could be very useful. I guess its to each own. I actually like it :)

Hi, thanks for the great video. I have a question about the new contour function. I used to add a toon element to add the contour, which is fine for almost all scenes. However, the toon element couldn't get pure white contour with the physical camera in Vray. Will this new feature solve this problem? Get white contour in any case?

Thanks Jiachen, Hopefully i understand your comment. Yes, this is possible in Vray 5. I would just add pure white as my contour color, and also use Contour Render element. since you can always edit the render element by itself you can get any color you like :). Hope that helps

Great content! I am having an issue sir. I turned on contour and rendered the view but the toon lines did not appear at all and i dont know why. Therefore, I tried to turned on and off the parameters in the contour tab and also tried to change the thickness...still does not appear.

You have to apply countour to a material.

Hi my Lightgen seems having problem when i generate scene its says : "Oops something happened, pls contact support"

I suggest update to latest vray, maybe its a problem thats already been fixed. If that doesnt work contact chaosgroup support. They'll have a better answer. 😊
