This video features the closing ceremony of Cape Town's famous Vredehoek Synagogue on 8 August 1993. The Synagogue was a legendary spiritual and communal home for thousands of city centre Jews and those who travelled further for it's services and simchas. Built in 1939, the building still stands today and is an iconic and much loved art deco landmark.
