Hello super new here, I was wondering if this would be applicable for someone who has a Puberphonia of sort, especially if its a Male but sounds like a girl type of voice, he can do some low Male parts like it manages to somewhat replicate when singing the OG "Beyond the Sea" Bobby Dylan but yeah...

This is why I love singing men’s songs. There’s no purposeful or subconscious want to try and sound like them. I generally feel like I just sing like me no matter what, no matter the genre.

I’m by no means a great singer (I just do it for fun in the car) but I’ve also found I’m way more successful at singing men’s songs! I just assumed it was because I have a naturally deeper voice and not the most fantastic range, so I don’t have to (usually) worry about hitting high notes when it’s a song written for men.

I tried these exercises in this video.. I must point out that I'm a woman.. I was in chorus as a kid.. I never new my voice could be so.. buttery! So smooth. I've always had a deeper voice as a woman. And I absolutely LOVE singing. But I never knew how to control it. I couldn't "find my voice" so I never pursued music or singing. I am absolutely going to binge watch your videos. I got a glimpse of my voices potential. I'm so shocked. I had no idea I could sing lol thank you!!

+nebisaur165 Once those who do find their voices also learn how to find their ranges too. I took a vocal class once and I def. could have tried harder & done better in the class b/c I do love to sing. But the exercises in this video definitely helped me. I learned in that class that I'm an Alto voice and if I had put more effort (and had less sore throats-got sore throats due to my own emotions at times)...I easily could have been Soprano. Also, for me personally if I want and I don't want to say I can go as deep as Baritone level, but my singing voice can go pretty dang deep to the point that I surprise myself with it and I'm like "there's no way my voice can go this low." I'm a girl btw & it's generally rarer for girls to have a baritone range level within their own singing voice alone. But I have caught myself going nasaly before & I'm trying my best *not* to do that at all.

Dear Victoria.. I practiced your siren and uh oh and ee and other exercises & techniques yesterday. Today, when I started singing a few minutes ago with the same song I always sing. I was suprised that I was able to raise the notes naturally. I think it is the siren and the breathing support that helps me reaching the notes that I wanted to reach with ease.. I tried other voice tips from other you tubers but yours was the best. I was able to do that after watching it yesterday..You are born genius and an excellent teacher that you're able to come up with this great program. I'm a 57-year-old, classically-trained mezzo. I sang high soprano in a small vocal jazz ensemble in high school and, over the course of a few years, moved over to classical and sacred repertoire. It was easy and I loved it. I sang that way for 25 years and then married a wonderful man who was a singer-songwriter and guitarist. Singing with him was physically stressful because he always placed my songs low in my chest voice. It was uncomfortable. Now, ten years later, I've lost all of my vocal technique. I never developed one for singing his songs (which he called "americana rock") and have lost my old technique. My throat aches when I sing and my voice quickly gets fatigued. Singing well is one of the most thrilling, exhilarating things I've ever experienced. I loved it. I loved being a soloist; a good musician; able to sight read almost anything; and able to step into a choir and sing whatever the director needed, from first tenor to first soprano. I loved it. But that's all gone and I don't know how to get it back. None of my teachers ever gave me information that's useful now. I'm going to follow your videos and see how it goes. So far, so good. And thank you in advance.

Yes! You can tell she's passionate about what she does... That will make her FARRRR more effective than others. And it's her intensity that makes you wanna keep watching cause it gets you pumped up... You can sound like dog poop but she makes you feel like, "Hell yeah, I can do this!" Lol. I wish SOOOO badly I had her advice about copying as a kid. I went to a singing lessons summer camp thing and I tried to sing an Alicia Keys song... And was copying for sure. It sounded terrible... I don't have an Alicia Keys voice... I sound more like Lauren Daigle. But had I just used my own voice and chose a song better suited to my voice maybe I wouldn't have continued with more lessons. But now my daughter has an amazing voice and is musically inclined. She just turned 6 but I know if it's something she's really passionate about she can go far... That is with information and techniques that are actually useful. So I will definitely be watching more as she gets older to help her achieve what I wish I could have. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with the world. 💕

The true voice thing rings true in rap/hip hop vocals as well. Most people start off trying to sound deeper than they naturally are. Sounds better when you find your own voice.

I absolutely LOVE your detailed intros to your videos. As a singer of 40 years...in my 20's I just wanted to 'cut to the chase' - tell me how to sing better IMMEDIATELY. This is why I stayed 'average' for so long. Not until I completely understood how to play my instrument, did I truly open up and gain access to my total range. You don't learn piano overnight. The voice is an instrument that needs to be equally understood. Thank you for all the free stuff you give away. ❤❤

This feels life changing- I have been practicing these tips for the last couple hours, and recording it to listen, and I don't think I've ever not hated hearing myself sing before now. I didn't become a GOOD singer in 2 hours necessarily, but the difference in just how much more breath I feel like I have is astounding I feel uncharacteristically optimistic about how much better I could sound with more time

When I was growing up Mormon, we had vocal coaches like this help us out. I remember when one I went to told my parents I had a voice for folk and rock music. They were not thrilled but she was right. A tip I was given to stop the nasal sound was to lightly plug your nose while practicing. The air then has to come out your mouth. You start to recognize when you are messing up even with your nose unplugged.

As a professionally trained vocalist and performer/studio singer, I struggled with finding my own voice. No teacher ever covered this. I've been hired to sing like Brittany and others, because I was good at emulating their sounds. I hesitated to record originals, as I wasn't happy or comfortable with what I thought was my sing-songy, indistinctive sound. Thank for this. I will be practicing these to enhance my own sound, whatever it is.

Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. I was a child and teen soloist that got my solos rather easily, so I don't expect credit for anything that was so easy for me, it was the only thing I could do well, naturally. That's not a brag. It's the opposite. Because it came so easily for me, I became very lazy with it, not bothering to improve anything or strive for being better. I became complacent and comfortable with just existing in music. Today, as an adult, I wish I had pushed myself to get better and better for my own feeling of self-worth and respect. However, if I had strived to make that my goal - I would never attempt to sound like other singers. I see and hear others attempting to sing like their favorite artists and that is what ends up biting them in the rear, because in music, with competing in that cutthroat genre of art, you want to offer your audience or judges something that makes you stand out from EVERYONE. No one wants to hear a singer that sings like Judy Garland or Celine Dion, because they already have those voices in their record collections at home. Listeners want something they've not heard before and using your OWN voice is what others haven't heard before. I'm 47 with 4 grandkids now, and I smoked through half my adult life, and ended up getting a chronic illness so I don't have the vocals that I once had. However, my ears still work extremely well and I can hear others voices when they copycat another artist or when they don't hit the right notes, in perfection. I really hear every single mistake they make and every single copycat I hear. If I can hear it, certainly judges and casting directors and audience members with musical background can all hear it. I'd rather hear a singer miss several notes, (as painful as it is to listen to) rather than hearing singers trying to become their favorite artist. It's better to everyone else as well. You can work on your missed notes and tempos but you can't improve a copycat singer that won't even use their own voice. It is ALWAYS better to use YOUR talent and YOUR vocals, then to try winning over listeners by acting like you are Mariah Carey or someone that already made their voice their own. ❤ In a nutshell: JUST STAY YOU. Feel confident in yourself and in your own vocals. Judges and casting agents and directors and record producers will possibly look over minor issues if you are willing to work on them, much easier than they will overlook you pretending to be someone that you're not, and someone that's voice is already available to the public. Be you. Stay you. And if it's meant to be, you will be noticed if you are originally and sincerely 100% YOU.

Thank you for the advice. I always struggled to project my voice without sounding tight. This definitely helped. Funnily enough, I do not have a unique singing voice. I have a twin whose voice is so similar to mine that our choir director could not tell us apart. She ended up putting us in separate sections to keep us from overpowering everyone else.

I like how you are breaking down the different anatomical locations of vocal elements. I think that's an aspect of singing that eludes beginners because most of us won't have background in anatomy or physiology but obviously it's very important because we are using a complex body structure to create a complex sound!

Just tried these in my living room myself and had to fight through that thought of "what if someone hears me" and the feeling "embarrassed/ashamed" But after the exercises I tried applying them and singing something "Tearing Up My Heart" which normally I strain to sing because their voices are so high and I am always trying to immitate them instead of singing it with my voice. It was far less difficult to sing that way but I cant exactly hit the same notes I dont think. I don't have any music or singing education just practice without instruction. Thanks for spending your time to make your videos and channel.

I don't even sing outside of when I want to randomly bring up an iconic song, but this for some reason came up in my feed so I had it play because why not at 7am. This is genuinely great advice for people trying to get into actually singing, and it shows with how amazing you've trained your own voice without even having to look at who you've trained. Amazing video, love the segments for organization and sick piano. Edit: Just noticed this video is a year old because KZfaq just does that to my feed constantly, glad it came up.
