How do you play loud on tuba ??
@cariboowho8 жыл бұрын
Step 1: Have the inside of your mouth open so it doesn't restrict airflow. Step 2: FUCKING SHITTONS OF AIR JESUS H CHRIST.

The above steps are cute. Here's how to actually play loud (the right way): ===== *1)* Never force playing loudly by using too much air; it will make your sound thin and sacrifice tone color and intonation, and also require you to use a lot more effort than necessary. Try to think of projecting and resonating more into the audience instead. *2)* When you're with other tubas, play well in tune. If you're not in tune with each other, the sound waves cancel each other out. If you are all in tune, the sound waves are multiplied in volume. *3)* If you don't already, start buzzing on your mouthpiece and eventually buzz on your lips/free-buzz (if you can develop the skillset). It will require you to use your ear and improve your intonation and has a number of uses for lip strengthening exercises etc. Once you become proficient, try to play all music that you are able to do on a mouthpiece. *Tip:* If you struggle with buzzing on a mouthpiece (I used to and have used this method), especially in the lower register of buzzing, you can add resistance to the back of the mouthpiece by covering the desired amount of the backbore opening with your pinky finger. It allows for much more accurate lower buzzing. ===== Oh, and sorry for responding a year late.

Tyler Lloyd by the way, if after all of this you are still not satisfied and everything else is good, you could experiment with different mouthpieces, for playing loud something with a shallow wide cup and a wide bore size. I would only change/add a different mouthpiece after you've done all these things. Some possible mouthpieces you may want to consider are: -the kelly screamer -loud mouthpiece series (#12) I wanted to do the same thing you did, but for my specfic purpose of marching band I got a second mouthpiece (lm 12). It has a stainless steel build and surprisingly comfortable rim that I could play for HOURS with, and the large bore size makes it easy to maximize the potential of small yamaha marching tubas and various sousaphones. If you do purchase it or a different mouthpiece, especially with different rim sizes etc., you'll notice your intonation gets all messed up, so you may want to order one a while before you actually need it by so you get used to it. Good luck with your tuba playing!
