Very grateful you created this VDO clip. I just rebuilt what had been a problematic carby following your instructions and a miracle occurred! The mower started right away and runs strong. I had been making a subtle mistake all along and didn't notice. Thank you for demonstrating the correct process.

Yes you can still reuse the bowl gasket o-ring if not hardened.

Nice video but I drill out the main jet with a # 72 drill bit .025 works great , starts first pull ,,,,even the ones without the auto choke . I'm a 74 year old machinist and I'm like you " Old School "

Great video. It was cheaper for me to buy a new carb than replace the needle & seat for my 500e ... which I have done. However, it now runs extremely rich with the new carb. Is there any fuel mixture adjustment on these carby's ? Ive done a heap of internet searching for an answer .. hoping you can help with the question or a solution to the issue ?

I wish someone made a decent carb for these engines. I have 2 mowers with this engine that people gave me and both carburetors are junk and have been apart and cleaned several times in the last couple years. They flood, don't prime correctly, leak gas out of the primer while running, etc and I'm clearly not the only person having these problems. Never saw such junk in my whole life.

my needle seat sank down in the chamber and carb is flooding,, these carbs are turds...

You can use a hardened wire hook to pull the brass seat or a guitar string to feed from the seat all the way out to the fuel intake nozzle and wire the tip with any small object to hook when pulling the seat out. When taking the object/hook out, hook through the fuel intake with hardened wire. When done, slowing tap the seat down until you get the right float level. @@Varietech-AU wow thats a great idea,, I was kind of thinking abt it alot today. once I get the seat back into the right position I will try to run it without that restrictor.. I tried adjusting the governor on my briggs 6/75 ex and it seemed to have little effect. the mower is running so rich I have to clean the plug after abt 10 minutes of use.,,. decarbonized the piston and valves with a product called SUPERZILLA.. have u tried it? it is AMAZING, I have a kawasaki mule I bought used, and the idle needle was very worn, they had been running it rich for years. the top of the piston was black with thick crusty carbon. I squirted superzilla in the cylinder and let it sit overnight.. then next morning cranked it over to get the carbon and superzilla out, it was amazing how much came out,, now it runs like new.., I even had to idle it down some due to the increased compression. the only thing I have found that will clean carbon better is easy off oven cleaner. it kind of dangerous though. burns the skin and eyes.

@@Varietech-AU I have a guitar string with the round brass hole on the end. it may be the perfect tool.
