The German artist Gerhard Richter is one of the most successful living visual artists. His works achieve highest prices in the art market. In the course of his career he has adopted many styles: he has produced abstract as well as photorealistic paintings, photographs, mirrors and glass pieces. For the 2008 exhibition Paintings from Private Collections, the Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden (Germany) gathered around sixty works from major private collections, complemented by works in the artist’s possession. This is a remastered and re-edited version of VernissageTV’s original documentation of the opening of the exhibition as part of VernissageTV’s Classics series.
