Very good video - thank you sharing your process - I'm trying to get familiar with the process so I can minimize using up my rubber on errors and mistakes. Really like the Talc for helping with the parting. Thx

I think it was a great approach to lost wax casting for its time, Fast forward to 2024 with crazy affordable 3d resin printers that can print with wax resin, it makes this a dying artform sadly. but these are the fundamentals that should never be forgotten

Would this work for hollow objects--or would the pressure break the master? My interest is in a basic LEGO brick which is hollow in the middle and bottom.

How hot could you cast using this mould method? I'm thinking about casting with pewter or lead. And I know this is going to sound awfully cheap of me but would it not be possible to use just a clamp and an oven for this?

soham harrison Do you know how I would go about getting the part remade? It looks like there are not reproductions so it'd have to be from the one I have.
@1soham16 жыл бұрын
you have to make a new mold from one of the previous castings

vulcanized rubber is more heat resistant than silicon? i'm no authority on it, tho i have poured pewter into some of my two part silicon molds before, with fine results, i just did it cos i was showing some kids some stuff about carving and molds.. but the logic in me says that if it was heat cured then, introducing heat into the equation would not be good for the mold.. maybe it;s just not enough heat to matter
