I do love joslins marana shoes. They fit my foot shape perfectly. They last for a lot longer than any other shoe I've tried. I suppose they do take a bit of time to break in but they still skate well for me fresh outs the box. Vans and some others creat a weird pressure point in my foot when breaking in that causes real pain and makes it difficult to skate and not get hurt compensating for the weird foot pain. Just my two cents on my experience. Love your informative vids

I've been on a steady streak of Joslins and Maranas for about 3 years now, absolutely love them. They do have a little less board feel than Vans, but nothing you don't get used to. They do wear down eventually like any other skate shoe, but I've been impressed with the durability.

@@deadredeyes the Quattro currently out is amazing, in my opinion, but the Accels, Schemes, and Spartans all have been complete misses. That sole they used on all the reissues and the Silo is just weird. Silo SC and Quattro are the ones to get from Es right now. The Mephisto Ludo are great too, they have super high quality leathers and are hand made in Europe. They have a natural rubber sole but some kind of vulcanization process where it allows them to resole your shoe when you need to. You just send them the shoe and they put a new sole on it. Also, they have an air-soft technology cushioning system in the heal and Air-relax.

Hey Ben, cool video - I've really gotten a lot out of my Adidas 3ST.004 cup soles. Just enough boardfeel with perfect support, impact protection, and grip. There's exposed boost foam in the back of the shoe so that might complicate your heelflips / nollie heelflips but I haven't noticed that being an issue. On the flipside, since I'm recovering from an ankle surgery, I'm trying to skate Nike SB Blazer Mids. For a vulcanized shoe they're pretty supportive underfoot and offer me a lot of ankle protection.

That switch heel line was perfect. I like cupsoles more than vulcs, vulcs are good for skating the park though. @@ninmoron3150 I have the Westgate 508s and just got some 440s as well. I haven't skated either yet. They look too rad to ruin yet. I think the 440s would hold up better. The 508s are extremely comfortable. The 440s are stiffer. There is more rubber on the sides of the cup sole on the 440s. It's pretty minimal on the 508s. Someone else mentioned that the heel is lose on the 508s. Compared to the 440s, I think this is true. The 440s seem to lock in your heels more. The 508s seem to have more board feel in the sole. I think they are thinner. The 508s have a single piece of rubber for the sole. The 440s have two. The 440s seem like they are pretty darn durable. It seems like they would take more breaking in. The 508s seem like they wouldn't require much break in at all. Also, the 440s sole seems to stick out more on the sides. I think maybe it's that way to prevent rolling your ankle, or maybe it's just the fact that the rubber on the side is beefier. They seem pretty damn durable to me. The ones I have are the black ones with the gum sole with suede. There are others that have more leather. Same thing for the 508s. I'm thinking the leather ones would probably hold up better. The rubber sole on the 440s seems pretty tough too. This is just my impression. Your mileage may vary. I haven't skated either of them yet. Overall, I think the 440s would hold up better.

My favorite vulcanized skate shoes are mostly HUF's especially the Clive and the Galaxy (i also say that the Classic and the Hupper) and recently i've got the last Brad Cromer pro model, the reason cuz i enjoyed skating these cuz the flexibility they have (for ledges and rail tricks really sticks on your feet the first days, then you could get more consistent your flat ground tricks), the way they feel in the board (pretty smooth) and the time of break in (just need like 1 or 2 sessions to make them feel like an extension of your feet), the durability also is another great thing the galaxy lasted me 2 months and 1 week til they ripped from the outsole. Still skating the Clive just got a little wore down area in the outsole but it a little pattern even having in mind that i've been skating em for a month.. I also mention Vans shoes like the Rowan Pro's and the old skool, they really great, the only thing i dont like about em its the duration (Vans usually last like 1 month and half) but i wanna try the Saddle Sid Pro, seems pretty cool.. Wanna try also the Globe Surplus and Los Angered 2, also the new Emerica model, the Temple.. But yeah mostly HUF's but it's a sad thing that they no longer making shoes:"(

Well the best skating I did was with a Prod 9 Elite, the Tiago S (+ extra insoles) from DC and the Suciu II ADV. I like not feeling that much impact, even when I skate flat.

Just bought cupsoles at as a over 40 skater, it has breathed new life into my feet!!!! PS just bought a parking block, could you do a series on tricks on a parking block? Your board slide on a curb from years back was great

I like the grip and board feel of the vulc but I think the cupsole will be better for me long term once I adjust to this pair.

My preference would be Nike Janoski if they still made a W5. The M4 in the newer model gets too loose before I wear it out. Blazer mid is good for me because it stays on. Trying a Vans Ave cupsule and a Vans Lizzie next - they are narrow and come in small sizes. I am a beginner and I love your videos, can't really tell all your grinds apart though :) but still so fun. Thanks!

I would like to share a little experience, I started skating about three years ago or so with vulcanized shoes because there were the most inexpensive I could find new or used( $8-$25), I didn't notice my sessions will only last around 30 minutes to an hour before my feet started hurting at the heel, I just recently bought cupsole puffy shoes from world Industries ($24 with discount) and this past week I've been skating for about 3 hours a day and my feet love it! The only downside is I had to get used to the taller soul and the sturdiness of the cup Sole shoe it took me a couple of days to relearn my ollie's, nose slides and 50/50
