I've been plugging away at this tune for a while, vulfpeck generously has released the full multitrack of this tune on bandcamp for free, which has been super helpful, but my God those fills during the ending are tricky and hearing the bass isolated there is actually very few ghost notes and dart's clarity on the fast parts is still perfect most of the time , the guys a machine.

Not sure what outro you mean. After the main riff in different speed he plays the end of the song only on lower speed at the end of this video

When playing the double stroke octaves on the second part, do you use your middle and ring finger ? or is it best to use index and middle ? Trying to figure out what is the most ideal way to play those notes. I'm still learning

Thank you Rishi, I'm not a sound engineer, I use some Waves plugins such a compressor CLA-2A, an Avalon DI (Logic), an EQ and a mastering plugin (Waves)

also, pro tip: when going up in speed make sure to use the custom option to go up incrementally. I'm pretty sure the real speed is around 1.2 or 1.25.

I am trying to play 0:27 part but I can't make it sound as funky as in the video. I am aware that going from that 9th fret to 4th should be fast but I think my guitar is not bright enough. Might be because im having round strings. I was thinking about buying flat strings to get that funky sounds. Anybody have any advise?

Round wound strings are brighter than flat wounds. Tonally, I’d suggest just putting fresh round wounds on your bass if you want to keep it bright. As for the groove, I’d suggest playing it slow and focusing on your dynamics. This song is very slightly swung too. Make sure you’re not trying to play every note as a straight quarter or 16th note. Put a little swing in it and focus on making your high notes sound slightly softer and I think you’ll have it.
