During the scene where all is basically lost with the traitors banging on the silver door and the throne going out of control Vulkan gathered with his remaining salamander son, a custodian, a chosen of malchador, an officer, a priest of mars and a sister of silence. Figures representing all aspects of the imperium in the room that was all the imperium had left. That moment was so powerful to me as he looked at every single one and they all shared a final moment together. I even shed a tear when it came to his son and Vulkan embraced him in what he believed to be there final moments. He is the most human of the primarchs and the best of 40K

This is also why the Emperor made Vulkan smart enough to recreate weapons from the Dark Age of Technology: he could understand how devastating they could be and only use them if he had no other choice!!!

Thats why vulkan is my favorite primarch. He sees things more than just face value and cherishes human life as with other primarchs its all just collateral. He carries empathy and feels loss the heaviest. I feel he is one of the most mature and well put together of his brothers and also one of the scariest when he gets pissed off.

Vulkans humanity is his greatest strength and weakness Big E even told Ferrus that he had something no other brother had and it’s that love for humanity Because of that love he knows the price and weight of every death and loss Others view these losses as necessary or are simply completely indifferent to them But Vulkan understands that that is a PERSON Someone who was born Had a mom And a dad Loved to read Loved being a mechanic Maybe had a crush on someone in the next regiment And you just told him to suicide charge a berserker chaos line for him to die screaming in 5 seconds

When you consider the kind of man Angron was supposed to be it kinda makes you wonder if this was a role that was meant for 2. One to build the means the other to execute the use.

Vulkan was HIM. It's like Mordin's line from Mass Effect; “It had to be me. Somebody else might've gotten it wrong”. Vulkan cared so much about humanity as a whole that he reluctantly would've pushed the doomsday button to scuttle the birthplace of humanity in a near instant. And honestly something like that is probably one of the most human things about us. We will sacrifice so much in order to save people that we care about or even some that we don't even know because of who we are at our core. But equally we're also the types to kill ourselves and many other people in order to deny our enemies their victory. And you seen it throughout history in many different places and different times. Where even large empires like Romans or the Ottomans win certain victories or lost them thanks to soldiers numbering much lower than their enemies and being underestimated. Which in Vulkan's case would make you think he might be the best person to do something like negotiate with xenos if the Imperium needed to. But after he burned that Eldar child and it became one of his most famous/infamous deeds in the setting that opinion falls short unless he musters energy he doesn't have to play diplomat. At the end of the day Primarchs were the warrior generals of the Emperor, even before being his sons. And this moment where he protects Malcador while taking up the last ditch defense of the Imperial Palace on Terra proves it with what few reserves and reinforcements that they could assemble against the Ruinous Powers as the Emperor and Sanguinis headed to Horus' flagship to confront him.

Getting about a unit of sledges dead when outcosted 3:1 is pretty good. Not scorpion level to be sure, but still very nice for a unit which you'd normally be happy to have kill half a unit if it's tanking properly for the rest of your army.

Wait was that scene in end and death about Vulkan initiating the psyker sacrifices? I understood that he was there also as a fail safe to sit on the throne should Malcador fail, the throne would kill anyone sitting on it too long, but Vulkans perpetual mojo was strong enough, we see him kind of instantly revive which isn’t something we saw any other perpetual really do, that he could sit on the throne and while it would kill him quickly since he isn’t really a psyker, he would still be able to maintain its core functions and could essentially just die and revive every millisecond while he sat on the throne. I understood that he was there as a last resort to keep the throne active even tho it would make him essentially live in a state of constant death and rebirth
