VW beetle 4x4 sahara ex army

Just 4 old split window beetle s ( Kaefer / Kever ) in the old sahara and army colors , at the Bockhorner oldtimermarkt , 6 - 2011 , in Bockhorn , Germany.

It really makes one feel old when you consider even the last Beetle to come off the Assembly line in Brazil is now a classic car by age.

Right at 0:38 you get a nice view of a complete lack of any drive shaft connected to the right front wheel of the cream colored beetle, unless it has offset axels, which I highly doubt. I'm therefore calling foul here and declaring these are not 4x4.

That's a very nice video👍 The bugs are interesting vehicles, you can see an original "Kommandeurswagen" at the VW Werksmuseum in Wolfsburg, if you want. Greetings from Berlin🙋‍♂️🍀

@LOST11B THese guys , the original ones , with the correct VIN and engine number , are getting to expensive to play around with , Its cheaper to put a big VW engine in an old Beetle .

Are these actually a 4x4? how did they get a drive line to the front?

During the war Germany made some 4wd Kubelwagens, so they do exists. After the war, Beetle production was started, but the Beetles where based on the Kubelwagens platform (so they where some 3" higher than later models). Not hard to do as the Kubelwagen was orignally based on the beetle platform :)

VW877 or Typ877 are 4 wheel drive beetle, very very rare, impossible to see 4 in one time. and this type beetle call Cammander car, not sahara.Below is a very nice Typ877 www.4wdco.com/view/collection/TYP87.php

this 4 Beetle looks like a 82e copy,Hub, suspension,steering all not from 40s car. no one are 4 wheel drive, front hub not the same, only few VW877 4 wheel drive in the world,one in Prosche home town museum, one in Volkswagen museum,best one belongs to a historic collector in Hong Kong. Very early second would war German NAZI Hitler and Ferdinand Porsches people's car/ small off road vehicle, Today we can see most of them at Volkswagen Museum and Porsche Museum and Porsche home town Gmund museum, one set 4 unit of Prosche Prototype 1941 Typ 877 Commander car ,1942 Typ 166 Schwimmwagen.1943 VW82e Steff car ,1943 VW82 Kubelwagen only can see at S and P 4x4 LTD in Hong Kong China it is a 4 wheel drive Co in China since 1987,The owner is a historic vehicle collector, he got many nice collection, Inc this 4 war time German army vehicle. www.tankmodel.com/co-collection.htm
