VW Bus Type 4 Engine Tin Assembly

Tips and orientation of reinstalling the engine tin onto a type 4 VW engine. This particular engine is a GE 2.0L which will be going into a 1973 Transporter. Take your time, follow the Bentley (or credited source) follow torque specs, and buy all the necessary seals and gaskets. Also, please use the thermostat and it’s corresponding equipment. I restored my 2.0 type 4 engine (cleaned up every tin and painted them), Luckily my original heads are low millage and had good compression. I restored the FI system and it runs like a dream. Sadly it is a California bus with a California exhaust / FI system on it, so my exhaust is a monster, but it is original. I like videos like this because I know I will use it for reference next time I take it apart. My biggest hardest to find items were a working PCV Valve, a working flap and thermostat (with pull) PO removed all of that. Now she runs beautifully.

Where can I order a complete set of tins for my 1976 bus with the type 4 engine?

Unfortunately the Type 4 lacks the support and marketing that is the Type 1 market. This being the case, I do not know of any one supplier for the necessary engine tin. No on is remaking these items. Your best bet is local VW shops, EBAY and the like, and of course, The Samba. - Sam

Where can I buy a lower cooling tin for a type four, 1979 VW bus? How much should it be in dollars?

So do you tie in the break booster hose to the manifold vacuum port? Having issues with my bus when I tie it in

Validated that your check valve is only allowing air flow one direction. If it is working properly, you could have damage hose from check valve to brake booster on the front beam or a faulty booster.

Check valve lol it's gone I just purchased a 78 bus going though it

@@familyurias1938 That'll cause that crazy vacuum issue you're having when hooking up to the manifolds.
