VW Camper van life in North York moors

We stayed at 2 very different camp sites in the North York Moors national park in our VW California camper van and then attempted the perfect wild camping spot up in the moors.
Wild Slack farm campsite was beautiful, really peaceful surrounded by stunning countryside.
Rosedale abbey caravan park was equally beautiful, set in a small peaceful village with a pub, tea room and a few other shops with a church.
We then headed up in to the moors for an off grid free camp but the weather wasn't favourable so we moved on.
As usual, beer reviews, outdoor cooking and a little review of our new Firemaple stove and frying pan to cook breakfast bacon outside the van is all included in this video.
Jack, our labrador, LOVED the moors! Stayed on his lead due to the number of grouse potentially nesting in the heather but, so many smells to explore and the views just allow you to empty your mind, a real wellbeing area to be.

The only time I’ve seen a ghost was at Whitby Abbey. Initially I thought it was just two actors dressed up and rehearsing for a show or something but then I realised that I was the only one who could see them. Freaked me out and I’ll never forget it.

Awesome, just caught up after returning from Tenerife hiking holiday. Back now in the normal weather, heating back on etc. love Rosedale area and those moors 👍👍

In my few trips to England I’ve been introduced to Bitter. So much better than American ale. If I knew how to brew bitter I could die a happy man. That stove is so much more stable than a jet boil! Love it. The handles can’t be so bad you can’t use a simple rag. It’s plenty big enough for breakfast. When would a hot cross bun NOT go well with a beer? Please!

I think the van just wanted to go home for a wash as it’s been silent ever since 😄😄 We’ve never done North Yorkshire before, it’s amazing to find new, wild landscapes! Definitely taking bigger coats next time 😁

That was a lovely sunset. Ditto, with the product offers some 'interesting' ones come in but unless its something I genuinely believe in and will use myself I don''t follow them up. Sarah looking for houses, don't do it, trust me its too stressful! Lovely to see those Yorkshire Moors again, a great drive isn't it. Hope the van ok and nothing serious.

Hi Sue! Sunset was way better in person 😄 House hunting is temporarily on hold due to Sarah’s work changing goal posts on number of days in the office 🤦🏼‍♂️ Our first trip to n.York moors, certainly won’t be the last as it really took us by surprise 😍

If we were thinking of a house similar to what we’re in now, we probably wouldn’t bother as we’re hardly home, it’s an expensive process and stressful but, we’re hoping to live somewhere much more rural in the future 😉

Thanks for the video guys. Your trips away give me inspiration to explore other parts of the UK, as well as trying some different beers (apart from Peroni). Looking forward to the next one.

I really wish I’d have accepted it, then slagged it off for not picking up any radiation in the forest 😄 Assuming it was just something stuck as the noise hasn’t returned since 🤞🏼
