I think you can stack even more than 156 boxes in the e-Crafter. This because you made an extrapolation error. The first row of banana boxes between the wheelarches indeed only can be two. However, above the wheelarches 3 boxes can be put next to each other. This means that from row 2 and above each layer can consist of 7 boxes. This means the number you can start with is (7×7)-1=48 boxes. This means the e-Crafter can store 162 banana boxes, even without being a Polish van driver.

Plus the row he said could add 3 at the top could definitely have been 4 or even 5. Not that even a dozen makes a difference when it's already 3 times the capacity of the nearest tested vehicle.

Correct on the 'V' being pronounced 'F', but the 'W' is pronounced 'V'. It's just as well to give the complete lesson. 👍😁 Yeah, that was an easy 156. Can I make a suggestion? Don't test a Tesla Semi container capacity in the same way. Just do some arithmetic. 😂

So, given the results of the banana box tests and the race between e-Crafter and e-NV200, it would be interesting to see a race where the job would be to transport e.g 70 banana boxes from a to b. Nissan would need two trips, e-Crafter only one, but given e-Crafter is more thirsty and slower, with a nicely selected distance, the match could go either way.
@therandomtester9561
@therandomtester9561 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, my thought too was the Crafter can only win vs E-NV if E-NV has to drive 2 trips. But that exact E-NV can legally tow a 410kg trailer while the Crafter can not pull trailer, so the E-NV might get away with 1 trip anyway. But with a trailer, consumption could increase enough so they may be really close..
@MrGonzonator
@MrGonzonator 5 жыл бұрын
No, 56 boxes of bananas would be 1T and the limit of this van. Would need two trips for the weight, if not the volume.

I can outdo that with a BEV US style box van which is more square body and could outdo it by at least 20 boxes using the Sprinter chassis. Heck a box truck would be able to hold even more. To those mentioning the Tesla semi i assume you are either joking or do not realize it is just the towing unit, it uses and pulls a traditional semi-trailer which are already readily available and in a deep drop van I can fit the the most in the best loading/packed configuration I can think of, wheel arches included in an axle-less type trailer chassis.

@@MrGonzonator A weeks wages says it wouldn't. One of my business interests is a weighbridge where we scrap metal. We've seen enough overloaded vans/pickups over the years to know how it goes. Throw 3t in the back of that and all that will happen is the tyres will look like squashed bananas, the suspension will be on the bumpstops and you will be a massive target for anyone in the law. Imagine it as three bulk bags of sand in there. The 3.5T versions of most vans are overbuilt in a big way because a lot of the time the parts are based off the 5+T variants - usually with softer springs and single wheels on the back but little else to seperate them. Once they're on the bump stops the tyres will almost always be the first things to break.
