A word a caution. I own a 2010 Golf MK6 2.5L CBUA. My expansion valve came overtorqued from the factory. It was extremely hard to remove the bolts. When I removed the expansion valve it bent the pipes and threw the pipes out of alignment. I know this because comparatively it was easy to pull the expansion valve from a used one. I should have stopped there and replace the threaded bracket, bolts, and tried to bend the pipes to restore alignment. Instead I kept forcing the bolts and ruined the pipes, bracket, and bolts further. Now I have to remove the dash to replace the evaporator, expansion valve, bracket, and bolts. By the way, the bolt is a M5- .8x35mm. You can find it at home depot. I believe it is a grade 8. I found a grade 12.9. Another tip, to remove the threaded bracket you need to remove the foam around the expansion valve by cutting around the pipes. It will make it possible to move the threaded bracket sideways to free it. My manual says the torque specs for the screw is 5NM. I guess it makes sense because bracket is steel and the bolt is grade 8. But I would caution against torquing that hard. DON'T use a pry bar, picks, screw drivers and other tools that would distort the fragile aluminum pipes or you will have to remove the dash to replace the evaporator! It should be easy to slide the exapansion valve on the pipes and the screws should easily align to the threaded bracket. If you are forcing it, you need to realign the pipes.

Great video, nicely explained. What are the dimensions of ring seals? I would like to replace all the seals, on the compressor, in front and behind the expansion valve. Are the dimensions the same in all positions, I need 3 o-rings for the larger pipe and 3 o-rings for the smaller pipe??

6:15 on my Saab, the two screws holding the valve to backing bracket were completely rusted and seized, had to drill them out, yank the mangled valve and twist out the remaining two threads with channel locks. 1/10 would not repeat
